Mark of the Beast:
Lawyer Thomas W. Heeter (whoever the heck this is) applied for a patent that gives him rights to a process of introducing bar codes to humans, just under the skin.
The bar codes are already (by design) listing the number 666 as the check disk at the begining, middle, and end of every number.
.....
The United(6) States(6) Dollar(6) or Almighty as it is sometimes called is losing value through various means, but the most damaging is through counterfeit (usually coming from foreign organized crime).

616, mistranslation, yadda yadda. No one listens.
Also: Who has ever called the USD the "Almighty"? I've certainly never heard it before now.
I'm pretty sure that god doesn't mention barcodes and computers and shit being the mark of the beast in the bible.
I'm pretty sure that those Left Behind books did, though.
Which one of these are you following, again?
Well, I'm guessing, just like plates on your car, that some people would get up in arms about being assigned that number so instead of wasting the materials 666 is never stamped onto a plate. 666 as a bar code for a test check would make sense, since it wouldn't be a real code. Assuming I've translated fundie technology terms correctly.
Wow.. if you cross your eyes while looking in the mirror, do you believe there are suddenly 6 eyes looking around?
Talk about grasping at straws. Take up hobby, you have too much time thinking about idiotic things.
I just read the text of that patent. It doesn't make any mention of using 666 as characteristic identifiers. It does, however, make mention of an episode of the X-Files.
I suspect Mr Heeter is just having a laugh. Either that or he is bat shit insane.
Also, the dollar is losing value because the banks in your money decided to give billions in credit to people who couldn't afford to repay, amongst other things.
@flour
If I understand it correctly, the Hebrew alphabet has a number assigned to each letter. In the Hebrew translation 666 was Nero's name. I think Nero exiled John and I'm sure he was pissed. The Latin translation (they had a number system as well) Nero translated to 616.
I could be wrong but that is what I have read.
counterfeiting, while obviously damaging to the economy, is nowhere near as big a problem as government overspending or irresponsible lending on the part of banks. I won't even address your silly numerology shit because you probably made it up, misunderstood what you read, or are repeating inane bullshit someone told you. Aside from that, there would be no consequence if it were true in the first place.
FSTDT and CSTDT 2 for 1 special!
Also, I work with bar codes every day (encoding, reading, etc) and the "check disk" probably refers to the check digit or checksum. Which is based on a formula. For example, UPC bar codes use Mod 10. Point is: will always be independent of the data string.
That said, this guy may probably be talking about RFID chips. Kind of like pet tracking. Hell, if I could RFID my house up, I would. Opening my door without keys FTW.
"The United(6) States(6) Dollar(6) or Almighty as it is sometimes called is losing value through various means"
If you Fundies think the U.S. Dollar is the Mark of the Beast, shouldn't you be GLAD that it's losing value?
Oh, wait, I forgot, God is a card-carrying member of the G.O.P..
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia...such a long word for "superstition".
"When you believe in things
That you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way"
@Miri: "Well, I'm guessing, just like plates on your car, that some people would get up in arms about being assigned that number so instead of wasting the materials 666 is never stamped onto a plate."
I beg to differ. Here in Indiana, we can now purchase special plates that have the American flag motif and "In God We Trust", and I was actually behind an SUV last Summer whose number was "0666".
I LOL'd. :)
Haha, he doesn't even know what it is that he's supposed to be paranoid about. The bar codes don't list "666" as the "check disk" (or even the check digit) at the beginning, middle, and end of every number. The guard bars at the beginning, middle, and end of every number are a little similar to the bar code for 6, in that they're two bars...like every other bar code number. Nonetheless, fundies freaked out about that...in like the eighties.
Somehow, 6123456789106 = 666 to these people. Even if they were sixes, bar code digits are in no way one big number - it could just as easily be 6+6+6=18, etc.
Oh, and: United (6) States (6) of (2) America (7) Dollar (6). Oops, it only works when you say it your way!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
