I’m a submarine vet. Everyone in the Navy thinks we’re all gay, and there are gay people in uniform, so ‘the gays’ also have Military Appreciation Month, Veterans’ Day, Armed Forces Day, etc.
and both have fought for the country, so they ‘have’ July 4th as much as anyone else….

Do… Do you not know the reason behind Juneteenth? It’s to celebrate the emancipation of American slaves… African-American slaves… over a 157 odd years ago, long before being gay was more readily accepted and been a holiday for quite a long time, not a federal one sure but it was a holiday before June became Pride month. But this is likely some bullshit attempt at spreading hate among minorities which falls flat on its’ face as there are PLENTY of gay black people out there, its’ not one or the other.
Ah yes, either racist gay asshole, or “divide and conquer” wannabe wingnut. Especially appalling since it was mostly black transwomen who started the Stonewall riots, so trying to put an edge between the two (overlapping) groups is particularly devious.
Every day is a good day to acknowledge the person standing next to you: Their triumphs and challenges, their hopes and grievances, the reality of their lives, when they have a point and when they’re being a complete fucking hypocrite, or when they’re just flat fucking lying and hope you’ll take their bullshit at a value they stupidly think drives you because the whole idea of caring about anyone but No. 1 is a bit alien to them.

Isn’t every month the month of something-or-other, though, if not multiple things? Are we just not to supposed to have any holidays then? I just looked it up, not only is June Pride Month in the US, it’s also Caribbean-American Heritage Month, National Oceans Month, Great Outdoors Month, and African-American Music Appreciation Month.
