many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can’t socially distance. There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!

Can and does are two different thing. Regular masks are not 100% protection, they are enough protection to seriously slow the spread. But since you are railing against fluoride also I doubt logic has any bearing at all.

I suspect they’re talking about KN95 masks, which unlike the better but scarce N95 masks, you can’t get a perfect air seal unless you glue them to your face. Provided you don’t get counterfeit ones, it’s still better than a cloth mask or a dust-filter mask which in turn is better than nothing.

There’s also the benefit that, if you get exposed but only some of the viruses get filtered out, it will take a bit longer for them to multiply out of control - giving your body more of a chance to crush it early before it gets really bad. Only a chance, but that’s not nothing.

Of course, anything less than an N95 is more for keeping you from spreading the virus if you have it than it is for protecting you from catching it (though depending on what you’re using, it does protect you at least a little). This is called “social responsibility” AKA “contributing to a world where everyone, including you, doesn’t just randomly die from stupid shit”.
