The Greco-Roman gods never had the influence that Christianity does. Hence why almost nobody believes in them these days.

Okay, if he means the notion of the Greek gods, he sucks at history.
If he means the actual existence of the gods in question, he has to polish his mirror.
Tell that to the Romans, who took the Greek gods and gave them new names, and the neo-pagans who still worship the Greek gods today (although they're a minority). In fact, the planets (except for Earth) and moons are all named after the Greco-Roman gods, not to mention that we still study the Greek myths today.
I'll tell you why "almost nobody believes in them these days". It's because people are generally superficial and will stick to the religion they were raised to believe, never questioning it. Anyone, unbiased, past the age of 14, with an above average IQ, who has NEVER been indoctrinated with religion will dismiss any religion as a foolish fairy tale.
Um... EvilBible, you're wrong there. I recently converted from athiesim to Christianity (Denomination - Anglican. We're more Catholic than the Catholics you know.) I was not raised with any religion, I'm 20, and my IQ is well into the digits that would allow me entrance to Mensa.
Yup, I'm with Shrinker. The Greco-Roman gods didn't have any problem with syncretic development, multiple cult centers where the names and stories and loyalties were different...of course, Greek civilization was a little sneery about people entirely outside their system, but it just wasn't the same.
And in Rome the gods borrowed from the Greeks coexisted with huge cults to folks like Mithras and Isis (from whose infant-Horus statues a lot of the Madonna iconography was borrowed.)
Well, most of our months are named after Roman gods. (Janus -> January, Mars -> March, Maia -> May etc.)
And the days of the week are named after the Nordic gods. (Tuesday -> Tyr Day, Wednesday -> Wodan Day, Thursday -> Thor Day, Friday -> Freyja Day)
I just want to mention it.
And there are overwhelming other influences of greco-roman, celtic and nordic culture on todays world. Law, for example (no, the 10 commandments are NOT the basis of our law. Roman law is the origin of our judicial system). Christmas has its origin in the old germanic winter solstice (which the christian missionaries needed to hijack so the germanic populace accepted the new religion)

Yup, xianity and many other religions are going downhill also. What'll be next, who knows. Hopefully something a little bit more rational, than just a bunch of people who still believe something what has no basis for facts. Maybe we live in times, that religions are being swept finally where they belong, in the sewer.
Unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself :'(
Fortunately, in vast areas of Europe (but also in other parts of the world), science and reason gets more and more influence than christianity in these days. People here are losing their faith in the silly fairy-tales of the bible, and are leaving the churches. In droves.
