Fear of rape is what all men use to control all women, whether or not a man would actually consider committing the act himself. Women are supposed to restrict their actions, their speech and their attire all to protect themselves from some out of control male of whom other men disapprove but whom they can't control. How long are women supposed to accept this twisted logic.

You decide. You're absolutely right, of course, but you have the decision whether or not to be afraid. The logic is twisted only in your mind. You see the picture clearly, but that doesn't mean you have to go along with it.
I decided many years ago not to let fear govern my actions, and that decision has served me well for decades. I hope you can do that too.
y'know, this is the point where a more obnoxious gun nut than myself would point out that while evolution made men and women, Samuel Colt made them equal. if you're really, truly living in fear of one half of humanity, get a concealed carry license --- assuming you legally can.
I hate to break it to you my friend but there is no conspiracy. Men didn't get together and decide to threaten you with rape to control you. Men, as a collective, don't get together about much at all, in fact.
You don't like patriarchal mores? That's fine. Flout them. Don't accept the "twisted logic". But don't act like men as a collective are deliberately out to oppress you. The truth's far more complex than that.
Apparently everything is rape now. Air conditioning, sitting in a train, looking at someone, flatulence, having a dick...
Am I the only person who feels that rape is kind of trivialized by these whiny people? It's like George W with his "Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!". If you repeat a word often enough it starts to lose all meaning.
Fear of rape accusations is what all women use to control all men, whether or not a woman would actually consider committing the act herself.
There, fixed for you. A bit of an exaggeration, but closer to reality than your version.
@Ireyon - You're not the only one, I've seen people across the net complain about it several times.
As stupid as this is, I'm rather impressed that it manages to be misogynist and misandrist at the same time. Apparently, not only are all men violent rapists, all women are utterly terrified and need protection. The worst part is, I'll bet this person would be absolutely livid if he or she thought someone else was stereotyping people based on their gender.
Yep....thats what I do. Every aspect of my life is dedicated to scaring women. Eating cereal in the afternoon, riding public transit, listening to Pat Benetar after midnight. All part of my plan to expand rape culture.
Aside from the "all men" bit, and some of the general absolutism of the quote, this isn't particularly bad. But the "all men" bit makes it fundie.
@Ireyon
The "fart rape" lie has been debunked. Looking at someone can get weird and creepy and unpleasant for the other side, but I can't say it is rape.
I say this as a self-described feminist, by the way.
You are a paranoid lunatic who seems scared about everything. Are you scared of rocking chairs too, or is it being told to think properly? How long is anyone going to accept your twisted logic, I wonder?
As a feminist, I, for one, am tired of radfems. They don't count as feminists anymore. Feminists support equality, and aren't simultaneously misogynistic, misandristic AND whatever the hell prejudice against non-binary people is called (enbyphobia?). Feminists are accepting of trans people as they are. Feminists don't care how often or with whom anybody but they have sex with, so long as everybody is a consenting adult. These bigoted, denialist, misgendering, slut-shaming hacks don't deserve to be associated with a respectable movement like feminism. We need a new nickname for them. Anybody got ideas?
@ Demon Duck of Doom
I find "bigotted assholes desperatly clinging to a non-excuse" works well enough. Or just "assholes" for short.
Maybe "ex-humanists" because they have abandoned the fight for human rights and refuse to recognize that human life is equal to their own? "Antipersons?"
Er... admittedly I need clarification on what binary and non-binary persons are. Is this in terms of gender recognition and sexuality or something else? I'm kind of clueless on most social issues.
...Oddly I find this shortcoming occasionally helpful in many cases when it comes to accepting people based on who they are rather than how they are identified but learning is generally a good thing.
Passerby,
Binary is male or female. Binary people can be CIS or trans. Nonbinary people don't identify as either binary gender. Enby is also under the umbrella of trans.
@ the original post
Go away, the rest of feminism (including myself) dislikes you. Stop being such a sexist dumbass, you are in the same category as mras, puas and the rest of those bigots.
@ Yuu, Demon Duck of Doom
Thank you. Though I may have some difficulty understanding I will strive to respect these distinctions.
Ultimately you are yourself. As frustrating and ambiguous that often sounds that is the fact of the matter. I will take into account all that is *you* and attempt to filter out preconception. That is the best I can do, and I strive to do the best I can.
@Passerby : Oh, don't worry. I felt the same way when I first learned about non-binary people. I understand it a lot more now, because when I get interested in something, I get obsessive, but it was really fucking weird when I first heard of it. I then realized I might be agender (no vender), because I consider gender identity to be a meaningless social construct. However, I call myself male when necessary, so I might be genderflux (fluctuating between a gender and no gender). Or I could just be male. I'm not sure yet.
Confused?
