I've been force-fed Roman catholicism since the day I was born. The only thing that saved me was that I started reading The Word on my own and developed a brain. They seem to frown on that.......the developing a brain part. I have also had experiances where they are offended when called Christian. Go figure.....? I suppose they know that there is no "Christ" in the word catholic.
IMO, their conversion goes like this..... Muslim-scare Christian into hating the Jew. Christian won't pray for Israel. RCC takes over. That's just my Op.

Force fed Catholicism? You can't have developed much of a brain if you don't realise that it is Catholic Christianity that that particular church professes' if you don't realise that Christianity never taught the Rapture, which was a perversion of escatology introduced in the 1830s, long after we are told Revelation had ceased. Nor do you seem to realise that until the reformation in the 1500s there was only the Catholic church! Luther broike away from it and precipitated a lot of other splinter groups - all differing, and all claiming to be the true church of Christ. Clearly it's all a nonsense, and you have been taken in by the latest lot of reformers, the Born Agains. If you are one of these, then you most certainly have handed over whatever brain you may have had to your preacher - and most likely you are also handing over your hard-earned money as well!
Happy Rapture, if you are among the 144,000 that will go to heaven, according to scripture! If not, then you will end up in the putative hell that your God has devised for most of his creation. Crazy, ain;t it! I don't matter none how good you are, unless you are predestined, you are damned! I'd say after the 6,000 years of history that creationists allow, there are no seats left in heaven - not even standing room!
As I said, Happy Rapture, into Hell with the rest of us! Heheheh!
The word Catholic defines the RC as a proselytizing and inclusive religion. It preaches to everybody and will accept anybody as opposed to its root religion, Judaism. It did not require "Christ" in its name because, at the beginning and for centuries after, it was the only game in town.
As for your brain (if you mean clear, logical, rationale thinking), you missed developing one by more than a light year.
This could be made into good word salad, with the addition of punctuation, conjunctions, and pronouns. But right now it's just sentence fragments and phrases.
I grew up Catholic. I was educated in a Catholic school up until High School. As I recall, they read the Bible to us in Church as well as in school. Never mind the big guy on the crucifix in every room you walked in.
This retard is lying, either he never was a Catholic or he has a massive hate-on for the church and wants to slander it any chance he gets.
I have no love for the Catholic church. It is an outdated institution clinging to outmoded ideas, and doing great harm in developing countries because of these ideas.
That's not even bringing up all the child abuse cases all over the world that the church has tried to sweep under the rug.
I guess my point is there is no need to lie to condemn the Catholic church.
The truth is sufficient to do that.
"I suppose they know that there is no "Christ" in the word catholic."
There's also no "Christ" in the words "Anglican", "Baptist", "Mormon", "Methodist" and "Protestant" for that matter.
I may be an atheist now, but I'm a lot less afraid of Catholicisim than I am Evangelicals and Fundamentalist Baptists. At least I understand where Catholics are coming from, having been raised that way myself.
At least Catholicism respects human intelligence (up to a point, anyway). Fundies consider it evil. Regardless, since the 16-squizillion branches of Christianity get such a kick out of whomping one another, I say hooray. The entertainment value is priceless.
I suppose they know that there is no "Christ" in the word catholic.
But it's sometimes in the names of individual parish churches, e.g., Christ the King Catholic Church in Ann Arbor.
I have a large number of friends who are Catholic and many of my wife's relatives are Catholics. Although we may disagree about many things to do with their dogma, I have never ever heard a single ONE call themselves anything but a CHRISTIAN. You are a liar, Isaiah
Many Catholics today own and read Bibles; it's a myth that Catholics aren't "allowed" or are discouraged from reading the Bible. Not to mention, the RCC technically gave you the Bible; why would they create a book that went against it's doctrines?
Many Christians and Muslims have been, and still can be, virulently anti-Semitic, the RCC didn't start anti-Semitism. And really, who's the one who probably thinks all Jews are going to Hell? That's what I thought.
I suppose they know that there is no "Christ" in the word catholic.
And there's no "dog" in the word "dalmation." It must not be one, then.
Ah, Isaiah the Iconoclast!
Too bad you didn't take that next step, and lose the bible as another useless burden. Instead, you adopted something that makes those "old farts in dresses" actually seem normal.
Just to play devil's advocate here...
The Reformation was never about the liberation of the lowly believers, but an exchange of masters...from the fat & sassy rich Roman church, to the packs of cheap rabid Calvinists et al. The RCs have a system of doctrinal checks and balances, as well as the concept of "sanctuary", as befits a pragmatic political system with everything to lose.
Fundamentalists, having nothing left to lose, allow a miserable pack of extortionists to lead them by the nose.
Everybody has been forced-fed the religion or non-religion of the parents. Sorry, that's what the Bible advocates, doesn't it?, that children should obey their parents.
I've been force-fed Roman catholicism since the day I was born. The only thing that saved me was that I started reading The Word on my own and developed a brain.
SO CLOSE. So fucking close... and you missed.
That brain seems to have some developing left to do. That made absolutely no sense.
The term "Catholic Church" was first mentioned by Ignatius of Antioch, somewhere before the year 107 (as he died that year) and comes from two greek words, meaning "universal".
They seem to frown on that.......the developing a brain part.
The irony, it hurts.
I have also had experiances where they are offended when called Christian.
You're either lying or have met a Catholic who's even bigger an idiot than an average American fundamentalist.
I haven't been force-fed religion since the day I was born. The best education I received was when I statred reading the Bible on my own - with no interuptions from my Atheist father - and developed a brain. Ruptured Retards seem to frown on that: the developing brain part. They have also had experiences where they are offended by FSTDT. Go figure. I suppose they know there is no 'Afterlife'.
Fact: Their agenda goes like this... Christain scare others into 'belie ving' as they do; 'Turn or Burn'. Atheist won't pray... period. 2008-present day (Obama): Atheism is taking over.
No 'opinions' required.
You can almost be certain this guy was raised in the fundamentalist church, slamming Catholics and claiming Rapturites read their Bibles more.
This sites just loaded with people from Rapture Ready or other Fundie sites claiming they've read and absorbed Scripture thoughally then completely proving they haven't a clue about most the Bible. To be a Fundie is to CLAIM you read it but to never do so and ONLY listen to sermons and radio preachers.
Over half their preachers haven't read it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
