[Re: an Adult Swim cartoon called Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil]
I had posted about this cartoon a couple weeks ago. The topic was shut down because I was told I was "giving place to the devil". It really hurt my feelings. I feel it's important to warn other Christians about these things. My teenage son had just turned it to this channel and I was had just came in the room. An advertisement for this cartoon came on. My son, who is very sensitive to things like that, wouldn't be alone in a room the rest of the night. I had already blocked Logo, Bravo, and the Music Channels. I had never really thought about blocking a cartoon channel. I have now! I homeschool my kids. I love it! The only thing that worries me is that my children have a sort of innocence because they're not around a lot of this junk at school. When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things.

Come on, just a little further...
One day, maybe you'll rejoin reality and stop being a Rapture-nut. Maybe.
Your teenager is still scared of cartoons. You homeschool your kids, presumably in your Rapture-Ready beliefs. I'm sure there's no causal connection.
"When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things." For once, you're right. In fact, you're more right than you seem to realize.
The only thing that worries me is that my children have a sort of innocence because they're not around a lot of this junk at school. When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things.
Congratulations. You fucked up at rearing secure, self confident children capable of dealing with the real world.
Angst born of ignorance and deprivation.
The Enlightenment was supposed to cure that kind of nonsense, but apparently it never filtered down into pumkin67's little tribe.
So this is what you worry about while your government taxes you to death and beyond the grave, and unethical corporations and TV Evangelical Scam artists, fad diet pushers, etc. rob you blind?
I hope your homeschooling includes the phrase, "Paper or Plastic?"
The only thing that worries me is that my children have a sort of innocence because they're not around a lot of this junk at school.
A teenager who won't be alone in his room after watching a cartoon has a more serious problem than "innocence".
Listen you stupid fundie bitch: If your teenage son refuses to be alone in a room because of something he saw on TV, he's a fucking retarded pussy and it's your fault. Second, let me tell you about something called FICTION. "Oh noes t3h s47an is on t3h teevee blassfuhmee!!!!!!!!!one" GET... THE... FUCK... OVER... IT! IT'S NOT FUCKING REAL YOU DUMB BITCH!
"When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things."
Which is why it's important to gradually introduce them to opinions you don't agree with. You have to slowly let them know that there is a wide world out there where not everyone is going to agree with him and some people are just going to be jerks.
And what the hell is wrong with your son? Too afraid to even enter the room after seeing something objectionable on television? It's not like it was a grizzly horror movie, it was a cartoon with what I assume would be a kiddy version of the devil. You're setting your kid up for quite a shock when he faces the real world, and you'll have no one else to blame but yourself.
My teenage son had just turned it to this channel and I was had just came in the room.
PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD TO A REAL SCHOOL
and holy carps. What kind of teenager is afraid of cartoons. Either he's still wetting the bed, or he pretended to be afraid so that he wouldn't get in trouble with mommy for watching "worldly things".
Guys, It's worse then that. She said he'd only seen an ad for the show, 30 sec. worth. My thinking is that he said at first,"Wow, thats cool", then thougt,"Oh no, I'm going to go to hell for thinking that. So e can all agree that yes shes fucked him up bad.
pumkin67, do you see that little box in the corner when a new TV show comes on, with a couple of letters in it? Like "TV G", "TV 14", "TV M", etc?
No no, those aren't Satanic symbols.
They're TV ratings. They work like movie ratings.
Instead of blocking channel-by-channel, you can block TV shows based on their TV rating. You can allow your son to watch shows rated "TV PG" and under, but block shows rated "TV 14" and "TV MA".
Most of the shows in the "Adult Swim" segment of Cartoon Network are rated TV 14 or higher. By blocking them, you'll be blocking out Adult Swim, which is designed for adults, but not the rest of the stuff on Cartoon Network.
When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things.
Yeah, welcome to the real world, chump.

Well, gee willikers there Wally, do y'think maybe you shouldn't have sheltered them their whole life?
Ah man, now I have to go and sign up to Rapture Ready and thank this guy for bringing the show to my attention. This things better than Sealab 2021, South Park, Family Guy and Metalocalypse combined.
The only hope for your kids you oppressive bitch, is for a house to fall on you. Home schooled my ass. There is no greater pussification of America than this home schooling bulshit. The last fucking retarted homeshooled born again I encountered didn't even know what the Holocaust was. Way to go you god danmed freaks. (pant) (pant) (pant)

You call them innocent, we call them clueless. Or (developmentally) retarded.
If this doesn't deserve a Ned Flanders award I don't know what will...

"When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things."
And they won't be able to function because they learned to be retards in homeschool.
HAHAHA!!! Retards!! HAHAHA!!! I sure hope this lady plans on her son living with her until she dies because he isn't going to ever move out!
When they get out on their own they're going to be bombarded with all these worldly things.
Stop sheltering them from the world.
Might as well ban the history channel and NBC while your at it.
Seriously, stop being so overprotective. Let your son know about the real world. He will hate you if you don't.
It really scares and saddens me that "worldly things" are treated like poison by so many of these people.
When you get exposed to germs your body makes antibodies to strengthen itself against them. These evil "worldly things" are the same way.
Expose the kids to these things so that you can explain why you think it's bad. Don't just pretend it doesn't exist. Then they'll have no idea what to do when they encounter them.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
