If demons can hurl furniture around and turn lights on and off, then there is no reason to believe they cannot interact in a more sophisticated manner with more complicated material objects. While I’m not particularly concerned about AI qua AI, I can imagine how what purports to be AI might be something else merely pretending to be AI and operating in its guise.

This is not a new idea. In THAT HIDEOUS STRENGTH, CS Lewis presented a similar use of the material for interdimensional communication.

If AI is demons, why is it so dumb and ignorant of anthing it has not been previously told? I mean, is that not one of the things that supposedly prove that demonic possession is not simply psychosis displays of knowledge the possessed could not possibly have?

Of course, claims of such Out-of-Place knowledge, be it in favour of demons or of reincarnation, never stand up to scrutinity, never actually require more than snippets the patient may reasonably have picked up during their life without explicitly remembering it, confabulation, unintentional cold reading and leading questions, and the investigators not having any expertise to judge the validity of the OoP knowledge to explain, and any time one tries to verify any verifiable claims rather than accepting everything at face value, such verification consistently fails.
So perhaps, ChatGPT actually IS as uncannily smart and insightful as demons…

My lights flickered last night. 40 years working with electrical systems, i assumed an electrical problem, internal or external to the home. I suppose, if i’d suffered 40 years of undiagnosed religiuos superiority complexes, i might have diagnosed it as demons.. Attacking me… During a rainstorm.
But i was playing on my tablet, so the flickering didn’t even interrupt my readng.

And from that ridiculous assumption, it'd be easy to jump to others, like blaming unrelated people for things they didn't do. Or unrelated things... False premises, irrational conclusions. Trouble. With knowledge it's the opposite: you had some reasonable hypotheses to test from the start, you found the actual problem and an actual practical solution existed.

Well, technically … AI is little more than a sophisticated Disk And Execution MONitor, (DAEMON), so … unintentionally on to some that he then went bat shit crazy with?
