[on gay and straight pride]
This is like the issue with feminism. Y’all wanna be equal as men. Be equal. I don’t understand the gay community, the lesbian, the lgbtq....(add letters). We all have this drive and passion to be equal, yet we aren’t aiming for equality, we are aiming to make our stance, our being known and not forgotten. What’s so wrong with a straight pride? it’s 2019, y’all are basically accepted, don’t need to be prancing around the streets but you do. So why not everyone else have their own right too?

Middle-class white Ls and Gs don’t experience nearly the same degree of oppression as they once did, and when it happens, they have the resources to take it on or go around it. That’s not quite equality, though for some of them, it might be good enough.

The poorer Ls and Gs, and the rest of the spectrum… not there yet. Regardless of whether you see it or not.

A couple of years ago, so many people ensured that more LGBT MPs were elected to Parliament than ever.

By straight voters.

Rights can’t be taken for granted. The LGBT folks shouldn’t assume it 100% can’t happen that their country becomes a realization of Panem where LGBT rights are history and once a year, selected trans/non-hetero people have to fight to the death live on camera until only one is left.

Yea, it's not like a gay man was beaten to death by homophobes after the recent Pride parade in Philadelphia, or anything...

You do, you made it, it sucked. Now, did you have a moral imperative to create one? No, you did not, that’s why people point and laugh at you, your itsy bitsy parade still went wherever it was supposed to go, undisturbed by teh ebil gays and such, so just quit your incessant whining.

You really don’t get the point of “Pride” parades, do you?

Also; The “Straight Pride Parade” turned out to be a bust. It was hilarious! Everyone who said they’d join except one guy was a no-show….

Why don’t all these wingnuts just accept that the majority of people in the Americas, Western Europe and “Down Under” (N.Z & Oz) think they’re refuse and move en-masse to someplace where most are chill with their B.S., like Russia or something?

You know, as a kid, I was always annoyed whenever contemporary cartoons (i.e., of the late 80s and early to mid 90s) went out of their way to say “wow, girls can do anything boys can!” or “no matter the skin color, deep down we’re all the same!” or something like that.

Not because I disagreed with what they were saying; in fact, it was just the opposite. Even as a child I considered these messages to be so completely obviously true that there was no need to waste our time with them. My thoughts on the matter were along the lines of, “Yes, everyone is equal, it’s modern times, we all know this, now let’s get back to the interesting parts.”

The difference is, I was just a kid when I thought this, before I sadly realized how wrong I was and that a lot of idiots still needed those messages hammered into their skulls.
