There’s a lot of crap that they don’t teach you about suffragettes, such as the lies that they regularly spread or how they rushed to defend a woman that bashed in her newborn baby’s skull. Putting her to death would be, and I quote, "a far more horrible infanticide than was the killing of her child." Then there’s the equating women not being able to vote with slavery, ignoring the reasoning behind women not voting (namely that only men were supposed to serve in the military or pay taxes, the two primary burdens placed upon citizens in return for the right to vote), and the list just goes on.
Feminism has been like this from the start. The internet has just aired that dirty laundry that so many women and news outlets were willing to sweep under the rug. Decades- and centuries-old lies that people just believe to be true because they were taught that they were. But actually going back and fact-checking these assumptions finds a much different story.

For those who don't know, Derpibooru is an MLP image site. 'Background Pony' is the default anon name.

Leaving aside the fact that rejecting the death penalty is not automatically evil, what's this supposed to prove? Women shouldn't vote because a group of women once did a bad thing?
Then there’s the equating women not being able to vote with slavery
Still not seeing what this is supposed to prove.
ignoring the reasoning behind women not voting (namely that only men were supposed to serve in the military or pay taxes, the two primary burdens placed upon citizens in return for the right to vote)
This is so blatantly stupid that I'm not sure where to start.
Lastly, what the hell does an anti-suffrage screed have to do with My Little Pony? The two are practically polar opposites.
Citations absolutely needed for all of this bull.
how they rushed to defend a woman that bashed in her newborn baby’s skull.
"Once upon a time some women did something I don't approve of so all women need to pay for it"? No.
Then there’s the equating women not being able to vote with slavery
Well, technically women couldn't be bought and sold.
But having no say or recourse in creating or approving of the laws that you're bound by is rather close to enslavement.
namely that only men were supposed to serve in the military or pay taxes
Sure, let's just go ahead and ignore all of the women who did indeed serve in the military either in drag as soldiers, or as official medical personnel. And since when have women never had to pay taxes?
The internet has just aired that dirty laundry that so many women and news outlets were willing to sweep under the rug. Decades- and centuries-old lies that people just believe to be true because they were taught that they were.
Like I said: citations needed. And your sense of time is off, too: Stuff I pulled out of my behind a few minutes ago is not decades or centuries.
"There’s a lot of crap that they don’t teach you about suffragettes, blah blah blah"
Therre's a lot of crap in David Barton history novels.
" Decades- and centuries-old lies that people just believe to be true because they were taught that they were. But actually going back and fact-checking these assumptions finds a much different story."
Yeah, like that.
they rushed to defend a woman that bashed in her newborn baby’s skull.
Meh, she was obviously just following bible teaching. "Happy is he who dasheth the infants' heads on the rocks."
ignoring the reasoning behind women not voting (namely that only men were supposed to serve in the military or pay taxes, the two primary burdens placed upon citizens in return for the right to vote), and the list just goes on.
A do you realize the women fighting for equality were willing to do all those things for the right to vote?
We've moved past the suffragettes by, oh, I dunno, maybe a century or so. Be sure to set your time machine to 2016 when you're ready to return. There's no rush; take your time.
You know post partum psychosis is a thing right? You know that exposing infants judged weak or deformed used to be standard practice, rigt?
By your logic, men past military age or those with disabilities wouldn't be able to vote either.
"only men were supposed to serve in the military or pay taxes, the two primary burdens placed upon citizens in return for the right to vote)"
The only place I've read where only military veterans could vote is Robert Heinlein's novels. It's certainly never been the case in the US.
Well, YOU sure believe a lot of lies to be true because you were taught that they were, dearie.
Aren't bronies usually open-minded and tolerant...?
This is coming from a BRONY, of all people?!
So to recap, bronies have been constantly made fun of, treated as manchildren, mentally challenged, etc. etc. etc., and somehow, what this brony has learned from this experience is to make fun of women?
It's like those feminists who turn on trans people, or that "conservative atheist" FSTDT quoted last month who turned on black people, or those gay people who turn on bisexuals, etc.
What on earth makes minorities throw each other under the bus? Do they not LEARN from their experiences?
And this, sadly, is why a 'Drama In The Comments' tag exists in Derpibooru.
...fortunately, it is possible to exclude that from whatever you want to see there via the 'Filters' function.
I bet just the concept of Ponyville's Mayor Mare bakes your muffins, OP.
Never mind the fact that - as Equestria is ruled by the Alicorns Celestia & Luna: Mares - this society is a Matriarchal one. The fact there's more mares than stallions in this scenario should give you a clue.
If you've ever actually watched the series, that is.
I will never understand MRA bronies, it makes no sense whatsoever.
Do they completely ignore the fact that the main (or should that be mane) characters are all smart, strong, both physically and mentally, competent females?
@1950508
No. Here's the sick part. They don't ignore it. They remember better than anyone. They keep that in mind super well. They know how strong and how smart and how wonderful all the female characters are, especially fan-favorites. That's step one. Step two is inventing a Gary Stu or two, or a million who can never be defeated. They have all the complex finesse of Xenu and the eternal battery force field. They then make those amazing characters dirt, because they have tiny minds locked at the level of babies. Selfish, brooding, prone to tantrums. They argue like incels and demand the same objectified toys. The big ones pay lots of dosh for pure tosh. And many have foal-fiddler fantasies so specific it would make creepers vomit. Just ask the guy who does cheerleader fillies in a racist Mandingo world.
Every fandom has a cancer. For furries it was the lifestylers and now looks to be the scene kids plus the obnoxious subfetishists like vore, gore and snuff. And for bronies, it's these chucklebucks.
@#1950629
Remember back in the early to mid 90'S when 70-80% of all cartoon characters from all time periods were gay according to the artists? If you wanted straight Robin Hood or Sly Cooper or Fox McCloud or Sonic the Hedgehog, good luck. That's WHY the comm OK now call of being gay came about. Now it seems that with the post-Winger hyper period done the most common things are vore, gore and snuff. Mouth shots are everywhere. Yes, including pony stuff. Pony snuff and vore is about 40% of New Equestrian Order.
(Same anon as earlier)
@Gabriel
"The comm OK now call" The what? Sorry, I'm not up on my esoteric furry terminology. I do miss Winger though.
And again, not seeing a problem here. That's lots of commonplace fetishes I dislike, and several I outright despise and hate, but I'm not crusading against them.
@ The Anon
Sorry. Autocorrect on my tablet tries to fill in when I accidentally do that sliding text entering thing. And then I neglected to check it.
That should be "the common call". Everyone assumes furries are gay because of the early days.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
