[Comment under "This is Constantinople, capital of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire. For hundreds of years they prevented Muslim Expansion into Western Europe. Sadly it was besieged in 1453 and fell to Ottoman forces. Never forget."]
Seriously, I'm in my 30s, never enlisted though I come from a military family, and have a comfortable job and a family I love dearly. I'd strongly consider volunteering if there were a call to retake Constantinople. Is this how crusader armies felt??

no, crusader armies were mostly impressed as far as i know. those who enlisted were mostly looking for an alternative to starvation. i don't believe too many of them were eagerly looking forward to attacking the equivalent of a regional-power ally of their own nation --- Turkey's a NATO member still, awkward as that thought may be.
i don't know how many current residents of Istanbul remember that the city was xian when (at least) one crusader army sacked it for, essentially, being too foreign-looking. but if the number is at all significant, then i don't fancy they appreciate talk like this very much.

Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople!

Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople!
Now you can't go back to Constantinople,
And it's nobody's business but the Turks.
;-)
First off...I now have an earworm I want to share
Click to here to hear it.
Secondly, giving excuses not to sign up for service when you're from a military family sounds...well..chickenshit to me.
Another Crusade? You realize that not only did they ultimately fail, they caused unnecessary, widespread death and destruction throughout the Middle East, and at some points, even caused Christians to fight one another? What a stupid idea.
Never forget.
Oh shut up. Never forget something from 1453? Most people can't remember what Trump or anybody else did a few days ago. And where exactly is Constantinople? Oh yeah, right, it's just outside of Albuquerque, north of LA, right? Let's get it back from those illegal Mexican Muslims. Make America great again!

Seems like ancient history to me, but I'd bet the
Indians are still somewhat miffed at Columbus. Then again,
look at the fundies; still blaming the women for everything.

'Ask not what your country can do for you...', as a Democrat war hero of WWII once said.
But then, Donald Fart didn't. Just ask John McCain, Bruce Springsteen, Oliver Stone...!
Muslim Expansion
Someone under investigation right now. Joseph McCarthy's work all for naught, ultimately. [/Vlad Putain]
@Anon-e-moose
The great thing about this....uh...."Administration"....or whatever the heck it is....is that everything for these jerks is falling apart SOOOOOOO MUCH and the opposition is SOOOOOOO BIG AND STRONG....and THANK HEAVENS FOR THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION!
When Fake Prez goes down....hopefully he'll take those other losers with him!
Just kick them all out, put Hillary in and start the whole "45th President of the United States" shebang over again. She won the Popular Vote and I get the feeling she might have got the Electoral College as well (if not for the Ruskies hacking voting machines).
She's not perfect but if Sanders said "Vote for her" then she's fine.
Confused?
