(=A board discussing Christians who believe in Evolution=)
Furthermore our salvation hangs on a young earth and six days creation for scripture says Romans 5:12 (KJV) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
If death came in any way shape or form (let's include entropy) before Adam sinned then the whole thing falls apart. Don't give one inch to creation progressives, they destroy God's word and the faith of the weak!

Something entered the world via Apollo 15:

So why didn't a certain Conservative Christian question the veracity of the findings by NASA scientists when they proved that the above brought back from the Moon was the same age as the Earth: 4.5 billion years?
It is a magnificent testimony to the evolution of humankind
Don't Google the above quote, if you know what's good for your entire 'argument': because when he of all people can reconcile his faith with proven scientific fact, what does that say about the likes of you ...?!
Wow.
See, if I hear that the latest interpretation of the tree of life moves apes to a subset of monkeys and all of them to a subset of marmosets, I shrug and move on. I still have the same job, drive the same car, juggle the same wife and mistress...
Same if they move the earliest date of human beings forward by a thousand years, or find a new hominid species, or see signs that the Incas had vaccinations...
If your origin story changes even SLIGHTLY, if one aspect of your favorite story is allegory instead of literal history, it ALL FALLS APART! And you'll never earn salvation. So you must be hell-bent, if how you read your origin story is not how the author meant your story...
That must be frightening. To be one actual expert opinion away from knowing you're going to Hell...
So, your religion depends on you rejecting reality and substituting your own worldview?
That's nice, dearie. Now go play with the other children; the grown-ups are talking here.
Why not see the Word as allegory, guide-lines? It was never meant to be taken literally.
You don't take it literally either, I bet, or have you sold all your possessions and given the money to the poor, as Jesus told you to do, again and again and again?
When you discover that your denomination preaches falsehoods, like about the age of the Earth or against biology, a rational approach would be to change to another denomination that is less hypocritical. Unfortunately, religion is rarely about rationality and YEC cults can actually be prisons, trying to keep their members dependent and captive. Demonizing the world, science and the rest of Christianity and rejecting and shunning their members who criticize some of their dogmas (or problematic practices like related to child abuse) is part of that. High control group.
Evolution is silent on whether or not there’s a god. Same as the theories of electricity, pneumatics, geology, and so on. YOU guys make it an all-or-nothing conflict.
So if you want to take the Bible literally, accepting a young Earth, that’s flat, under a solid sky, and reproduction involves eyesight, g’head. Just don’t pretend you have anything that’ll compel us to teach it as factual.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
