Truth be told, this leaves me thinking a lot about… How can this people (NASA) predict these events with so much anticipation? Could it be… they have information from fallen angels so that they know when it will happen???

Who said eclipses are unpredictable?

Hell I don't know the orbital mechanics of eclipses, but even I know that given that the Moon has to move between the Earth and the Sun to block it out, I'm guessing that "during a new moon" is a pretty good starting point, right?

We have been able to trace the orbits of planets for centuries; it was how we figured out that their orbits were ellipses, not circles. Just plug the data into a computer and voila! You can figure out when solar eclipses will take place. No fallen angels necessary.

For the exact same reason we know when there’s a solar or lunar eclipse coming. It’s not a mystery here, folks. It’s the same reason why I knew there was a transit of Venus across the sun a few years back.

OH, and why do these people just think it’s always NASA? like, ok, the rest of the world’s astronomers know what’s up too

Thales predicted an eclipse on May 585 BC, and Mesopotamian astronomists were already able to determinate the probability of an eclipse occuring on a given year. Newton just gave us better tools to do it.

The really funny thing about this is that ancient civilizations had a pretty good idea when these things happened. You really only need a couple of decades of accurate records and some basic math to make pretty good predictions. No knowledge of the shape of the Earth or how the solar system works is required.

How can this people (NASA) predict these events with so much anticipation?

Woah! Almost like reality works according to certain predictable laws of physics.
