The [Americans with Disabilities Act] was just another law in a long process of laws in which statists leave title to private establishments in private hands while using the power of the state to control and direct the use of such property. The label for that type of economic system, of course, is fascism, a system whose model was in Italy under the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.

So true. Before the ADA, we didn't have to see the crips and the blind wandering the Streets. And especially those vets. No, they could stay hidden in their homes, where they could accept the pittance they got once a month for risking life and limb for this country.
You effing asshat.
Disability discrimination is the dumbest of all types of discrimination. At some point Mr. Hornberger will find, either through illness, accident, or age, that he will need one of those reasonable accommodations we will all be entitled to under law.
Fascism has long roots in the United States, with Teddy Roosevelt forcing businesses not to sell medicines made from chalk and meat riddled with maggots, while making private establishments liable for the workers that get killed on the job. Oh, the humanity.
Ahh the 'fuck you, got mine' attitude again.
I say we put all these people on an island and see how long the survive, without resorting to collective actions.
Even under my temporary disability I easily qualified under while recovering from a serious illness and injury, I chose not to take advantage of it knowing there are those who needed it worse then I did. There will come a time when Jacob will be one of those that will be needing those ADA accommodations. When that happens, he will be on the other side of the fence bitching about people like he is today.
I used to be bothered by the handicapped spaces taking up the best spots. And in some small strip malls there are stupid regs that have most of the spaces reserved, and there's almost no place for normies to park.
But the shoe is on the other foot, now, as I am handicapped, and what bugs me much more is in large lots where there are very few , not nearly enough, reserved spaces and we wind up parking way out in the bandocks. There is a Home Depot here, huge parking lot, lots of handicapped spaces, all at one end of the lot. All the shopping carts, however, are way to hell and gone at the other end. Lots of help that is.
I imagine the problem would be helped greatly if city councils had handicapped people on the staff, instead of J. Hornbergers. Now I am very much aware of the problems of trying to open stiff doors, climbing stairs, walking great distances without a place to grab onto or sit down. Forget about anything on the top shelf. Those disability payments are life savers, but just barely. Those taxes I paid for all those years don't bug me anymore, I'm so glad I was able to pay into the fund.

Fail. Fascism is a political philosophy. Corporatism - if I can even give you that - has been implemented by plenty of politicians whose political philosophy is liberal democracy.
Besides which, corporatism is just another flavour of capitalism, which you're supposed to love. Free-market capitalism is a myth; capitalism relies on state intervention.
@Felix Wilde
When the Italian Fascists were talking about corporateism they did not mean rule by businesses. What they meant was that each segment of the economy and society, e.g. labor, capital, professional fields, etc. which would, in turn, be managed and controlled for the benefit of the state. Not exactly the free market. It is not the same as being ruled by private businesses.
Because we should just tell the disabled to fuck off. After all, you lose your sight or ability to walk, you're not human any more, right? And now they're just forcing their disabilities down our throats...
You know, there are a LOT of laws which tell you what you can do with your own property, and making concessions to the disabled so they're not inconvenienced is not a big deal.
So my younger brother being treated like dirt is good...and people being required to treat him well and accommodate for him is fascism?
...Go fuck yourself, Jacob.
"is fascism, a system whose model was in Italy under the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.
"
Jesus of Nazareth did it first and did it better.
@jsonitsac : "Rule by businesses" is not what I mean by corporatism either. That's not what anyone means when they say corporatism, except perhaps uneducated dolts like Rush Limbaugh.
Capitalism (and corporatism) are economic systems. Neither of them have anything to do with who rules in the political sense. Capitalism is about a wealthy class controlling the means of production. Corporatism is about the unified management of state and business interests to strengthen the nation (although this invariably meant strengthening the state in fascist regimes, economic stability in itself is seen as being in the national interest in Western democracies where the nation and the state are less completely intertwined).
Corporatism is just about transferring the capitalist class from a private institution to a state managed one. It's still an economic system in which a wealthy class control the means of production, so it's capitalism, free market or no.
As I said in my last post, there is no such thing as actually existing free-market capitalism. Capitalism relies on state intervention to continue. It's not my fault American libertarians like Hornberger don't understand that. He talks big about loving capitalism and hating state intervention in the economy; he could just as well talk about loving communism but hating having to share in my view.
Confused?
