[Watchmen film review]
This movie was disgusting. After the movie ended, my husband and I, by God's kind and gentle conviction, repented. We are now forgiven, by God's mercy. The sex content was repulsive and on “Archie,” blasphemous. There is nothing of, pre-marital and/or extra-marital sex, about which to praise God.
This movie also endorsed the evil lies about peace on earth without Jesus, Who is Peace. The Bible is very clear, without Jesus, there can be no peace. He is also Truth. The Anti-christ, is one who will attempt to bring peace on earth without Truth. We all know Who will win eternally and who will lose forever.
We both had to avert our eyes in numerous scenes. The violence and the graphic crime scene (of the little girl), was just deliberate shock. Thank God, I didn't see any of it.
This movie is not for any Christian to see. It is beyond the boundary of food sacrificed to idols. It is filth to eat and drink and filthy rags into which we dress ourselves.

The Bible is very clear: Slavery is acceptable. Did you repent by God's kind and gentle conviction of seeing Roots, too?
" It is beyond the boundary of food sacrificed to idols. It is filth to eat and drink and filthy rags into which we dress ourselves."
lol. Anyone else had the feeling that if she kept going she would have said:
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll look down and whisper "No."
I'm kind of amazed they didn't even mention the fact that Dr. Manhattan was naked all through the film. You'd think for nutty fundie people that would be one of the things they'd focus on.
I remember looking away during one of the sex scenes, though. That was just because it was so cheesy it was embarrassing. (Hello, painfully bad orgasm metaphor!)
The violence and the graphic crime scene (of the little girl), was just deliberate shock.Thank God, I didn't see any of it.
While I will admit the film is a bit odd, this statement makes me laugh my fucking ass off .
But you were too stupid to just, you know, leave?
Or was it that it was much better to stay and be deliciously offended?
Um... Veidt, the one who brings about "peace"? He's the BAD GUY (I guess that's kiiiiinda up to interpretation, but...). He's a lot closer to what I suspect you folks would consider the Anti-Christ - he's the wealthiest, most powerful man on Earth, he's charismatic, liberal and gay. So I fail to see why that offends you so much.

SOMEONE's been doing their circular logic homework! Here, have some Koolaid.
But srsly, they changed the ending of the film. Only thing, ONLY thing wrong with it. Everything else was just awesome! :D
Shut up you cunt!
I liked that movie~
I mean, I didn't like the sex scene in Archie either (or rather, the fact that it was somewhere around 5 minutes long. I think it got what, a couple panels on one page in the novel?), but come on, people.
Though, honestly, if you had actually bothered to do any research on the graphic novel it was based on, you'd see how batshit Alan Moore is.
I've never seen the movie, but now I want to.
I think it's endlessly hilarious that fundie Christians like this can't just enjoy a movie without thinking that they're going to hell for watching it. They just have to see evil everywhere. And as everyone else pointed out, they didn't walk out of the theater or turn the DVD player off, they watched the whole thing and then repented, and of course God forgave them for watching such evil filth.
And for some reason when I read stuff like this post I think of Ned Flanders.
honestly, i didn't like this movie. It seemed to me like it was a whole lot about nothing.
More importantly though:
"This movie also endorsed the evil lies about peace on earth without Jesus, Who is Peace."
Actually, this movie endorsed the evil lie that peace on earth was possible while you lunatics are still around.
The Bible is very clear, without Jesus, there can be no peace.
I sure wish you stupid fuckers would leave me in peace about Jesus.
As far as sex in movies is concerned, this film was pretty tame. have you read your Bible lately? Incest, violent rape, infanticide, if they filmed that literally they'd have to rate it NC-17.
We are now forgiven, by God's mercy.
No, you're not. You're doomed! DOOMED! You're going to Hell, where you'll be forced to have anal sex with Richard Nixon for all eternity!
Gone are the days when the mention of superheros conjured up images of the old 1960's Batman show.
This movie (and the graphic novel it was based on) kicked arse. If it offended you then tough titties.
But tell me, did the graphic violence in Watchmen offend you as much as the graphic violence in The Passion? Or doesn't the violence in religious snuff films count as it turns you on?
To an extent, I'm with you: the movie was quite graphic, in every sense of the word. I admit to looking away during the scene with the buzzsaw in the prison myself. If you are the queasy type, this is not the movie for you. Similarly, I would not show it to small children.
However, I think you misunderstood the point of the movie. This movie is not supposed to be about Godly behaviour, much like how real life is not always about Godly behaviour. Alan Moore does not write simple morality tales, and the movie generally stays very close to the graphic novel. Rorschach may be the main character, but that doesn't mean you are meant to agree with him: he's a violent psychopath, and is plainly shown as such. Ozymandias may believe he's solved war, but that doesn't mean he's right: in fact, Dr. Manhattan implies that his peace will eventually fail. The problem here is not that the movie is evil, but rather than you have a simplistic understanding of it, and are unable to cope with the graphic sex and violence. That's perfectly fine: you are welcome to avoid the movie if you think it represents a stumbilng block to your faith. however to use your own idol meats reference, christians who know what they're getting into are in no spiritual danger from this or any other movie, and trying to dictate their lives is out of line.
"This movie was disgusting. After the movie ended, "
Uh, you can stop right there; I can see your problem already.
Really, from the trailers and promos and media coverage you'd have expected "Megan" to have some idea of what she was going to see. Pay attention! The film's called Watchmen , not Watchtower !
Why does the MPAA even exist to make movies terrible if the only people who care about it don't pay attention to what's RIGHT ON THE COVER?
Seriously, if you were this wound up about a movie wouldn't you check the box to avoid it? Wouldn't you? And would you really expect a film to suddenly burst into praise about the way things will be with Jesus when NO FILM you've EVER seen in your life has done that?
No, of course not. Because you both peeked and then muttered about how offended you were.
Why does FSTDT keep posting these movie reviews. It's like the same guy using the same generic template.
The movie XXX was completely disgusting/inappropriate/against god/evil because it has sex, didn't talk about God/Jesus, supported atheists/liberals.
I am disgusted with myself and have begged God for forgiveness.
Don't watch this movie.
"This movie is not for any Christian to see. It is beyond the boundary of food sacrificed to idols. It is filth to eat and drink and filthy rags into which we dress ourselves."
Is this movie worse than Spongebob Squarepants cartoons?
*sigh*
What part of R rated did you misunderstand?
I suppose I shouldn't even bother to point out that you didn't understand the movie (which for the record is NOT as good as the book--which is my favourite) at all.
So you stayed right through to the end! Who stopped you from walking out when you found out it was objectionable to your personal taste?
What were you repenting of? Did you and your husband engage in sexual contact during the movie?
How do you know God has forgiven you? You say he has, but permit me to have my doubts, unless you can give me proof. I mean it's not all that simple. You had the responsibility to research the movie before you went. You didn't, obviously. Or if you did, you still went! And then you stayed right through... Not looking very repentent to me.
Where does the Bible say Jesus is the Prince of Peace? Quotation, please. How do you reconcile this with Jesus's own words that he came with a sword?
I think I smell a little hypocrisy in this posting.
Actually, Watchmen was an incredibly philosophical film that posed many great questions that require thinking in-depth. Oh, that's probably why you didnt't like it. Got it. And the sex scene wasn't that bad.
Oh and the graphic violence? No worse than the Passion of the Christ.
"This movie is not for any Christian to see."
Then why go and see it in the first place?! I swear, you cuntbrains deliberately seek out anything guaranteed to 'offend' you, just for the sake of complaining about such.
Don't want to be 'offended'? Do a little advance pre-viewing research. Film review magazines & TV/radio programmes (as I do: "Empire", "Total Film", "Sight & Sound" magazines; BBC1's "Film" programme, and on their Radio 5 every Friday afternoon, film reviews by Mark Kermode)
...oh, and imdb.com is your friend too.
"This movie also endorsed the evil lies about peace on earth without Jesus"
Yes, whilst making absolutely clear that it WAS a lie.
And really whats the point anymore, this means any attempt we make to improve the world is now the work of satan. Great, you've just managed to make world peace evil.
You idiots invented the MPAA, why the fuck don't you pay attention? IT'S RATED R. There are explanations as to why it's rated R all over the place: Violence, sexuality, nudity, language. Or could it be you just do stuff because everybody else is doing it? Like seeing movies, jumping off cliffs, praying...
[Bible book review]
This book was disgusting. After we finished it, my wife and I, by Buddha's kind and gentle conviction, vomited. We are now forgiven. The incest conent was repulsive. There is nothing of, daughter-father and or brother-sister sex, about which to praise god.
This book also endorsed the evil lies about peace on Earth with Jesus, who has been AWOL for two millennia.
We both had to turn the pages without reading them in numerons instances. The violence, genocides ordered by the so-called god, the misogny, was just deliberate shock.
This book is not for any child to read. It is beyond the boundary of animals sacrificed to a psychotic dickhead. It is filth to wallow in that no decent human would want to be associated with.
I've had an AVI of Watchmen on my computer for the last few weeks. Been meaning to get around to watching it. Now, thanks to your review, I'm going to watch it when I get home tonight -- you've piqued my curiosity.
"The violence and the graphic crime scene (of the little girl), was just deliberate shock. Thank God, I didn't see any of it."
Well of course it was a shock, you moron! The whole point of the scene was to show the base evil of man. That is something that Christians agree on: Man is evil. Rorschach was trying to say that humanity is inherently evil by going to the most extreme example he had ever encountered. He was agreeing with Christian theology!
"This movie also endorsed the evil lies about peace on earth without Jesus, Who is Peace."
She's obviously talking about the ending where it seems like Ozymandias has brought some measure of peace. Even though the ending was left ambiguous for a reason. Ozymandias may have failed. There may not have been peace at the end. This is especially wrong seeing how the movie was less ambiguous and was, in fact, biased against Ozymandias!
Confused?
