If posting the 10 commandments upset so many and they must be removed because they are in public places, then let me tell you what pissed me off and I'm tired of having it rammed down my throat and that is Spanish!!!
Every Courthouse in America must post all signs in English and Spanish...why, this is an English speaking country and if you are so pissed about the 10 Commandments being in public places, why aren't you screaming for the removal of all the Spanish signs??...that is being shoved down your throats alot more than the commandments.
At every ATM, you must push a button for English, yet no one complains..but show the 10 commandments and all hell breaks lose..
If the beliefs that this country was founded on upset you so much, then why are you here??
Have the Spanish signs removed and then you can remove the 10 commandments but not until..

Awww, poor widdle baby had to push and extra button? Lo Siento!
Oddly enough there was an almost identical letter to the editor in our local paper today. I thought about submitting it, but it's no different than this one.
Seeing written Spanish is not a church/state separation issue. In fact, it's not a constitutional issue at all, since we have not established any official language. And this country wasn't founded on your beliefs. That's why.
I've never heard a Canadian bitch about French being written along with English.
But, I guess that's what you get when you're not raised to be an over-privelidged numbnut.
88?
Hey, is that you TRAC? I was wondering where you've been hiding, you rascal. I missed the hell out of your shenanigans, buddy!
Multilanguage ATMs =/= 10 Commandments.
Besides I have seen ATM's in the U.S. that actually have a French language option and I don't see whites complaining about it.
Also, just to let you know, the United States does not have an official language.
Can I put up the 8 fold noble path? Can Pagans put up there signs? Why the hell not?
Although I guess if you go back to the Puritans, then yeah, the US did originate as fundieland.
Last time i checked, the founding fathers didn't find religion to be a useful thing.
And kid, you are never too old to learn a new language. I had to learn three different languages back in school.
We have cities and states that pertain to the Spanish language.
You know I recognize people like 88 are just trolls, but he represents these imbeciles that go around bitching about Spanish this, Spanish that.
Should we go back and name Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Jefferson, New Washington just to appease these right wing loons?! Hell no, plus don't get me started on the German and Native American Languages used in the midwest. English has never nor will it be the official language of this Country.
Yeah! And what's with all those ramps and elevators being installed everywhere? Those damned handicapped are useless anyway so why are we spending all that money for these things that just ruin the aesthetics of the place? What is this country coming to?
/sarcasm
Courthouses and public buildings are there to serve all the people of this country, not just Christians. That is why English/Spanish (sometimes French, et al.) signs are posted, handicap ramps are installed, and your silly rules for a single faith are not. We might let you install them if you can handle having other religions posting theirs there as well... How would you like to see quotes from the Qu'ran or the Bhagavad Gita posted on the local courthouse alongside your silly commandments? ...that's what I thought.
Or, how about we have a button on ATM's indicating which religion they should present your bank info in? Would that make you happier?
This is just stupid, how about they take away wheelchair ramps too? Are you sick of accessibility being shoved down your throat? You live in a walking country, after all.
No one's forcing you to learn spanish, hence why everything is offered in TWO FUCKING LANGUAGES. You can ignore the spanish language, now let us ignore your religion, please!
@ #1001487
Wow, I was actually looking for that strip to post it too.
"If you want to live here, learn to speaking fucking English"
If you want to live here, learn to tolerate people who can't speak English. It's not your country.
Quite honestly, I agree -- this is America, and we speak English. If you're too stupid or too lazy to LEARN THE LANGUAGE, you need to fucking LEAVE. (Ditto if you insist on keeping "cultural traditions" such as female "circumcision".)
If you're making a reasonable effort, and showing improvement, you can stay.
@88
"Beaner names"...
Umm, no they are Spanish/Castillian Names, whom have long existed since before the English speaking pilgrims came over on the Mayflower.
In any-case this is a free country and you should be able to speak and operate a business in whatever language you see fit.
Actually the USA technically has no official language. English is kind of the de facto language of choice for an awful lot of people, but nowhere is it actually set in stone that "this is the language of our country". [I think I've got that right, but I'd welcome correction from someone who actually lives in America if I haven't.]
In fact I think many states have different views on this - Kentucky clearly has enough Spanish speakers to make this worthwhile - and if you moved to some other states (annoyingly I forget which) French would be a lot more in your face.
On the other hand, it IS laid out in federal law that the government won't promote one religion over another. Putting a massively Judeo-Christian statement all over public buildings qualifies as this, and that's why people complain. Its doning a disservice to all the Hindus, atheists, Buddhists, Sikhs, Muslims, and who knows who else who live in America, and its against the law.
In a sense, the lack of anger over Spanish signs and the anger over the commandments have the same root. They both stem from a wish for the USA to be as much a home to everyone, whatever their ethnicity or religion. In short, you're a douchebag on both counts.
I have to agree w/the concept of people learning English if they live here. If I decide to live & work in France,it'd be MY responsibility to learn the dominant language, not their job to cater to my lack of knowledge of the language. Why shouyldn't immigrants to this country have to do the same?
One is a matter of convenience and the other is a matter of national religious affiliation. Not exactly the same. Plus, there are at least 5 states named after spanish words (California, Montana, Colorado, etc) are we supposed to change those too?
Nice topic surfing there,sir!
I'll make no comments about his xenophobe ranting, because it just mocks itself.
Oh,nearly forgot.
Here's a special message for you,Rick:
Hazle un favor al género humano y bébete una buena botella de lejía,de un trago.Zoquete.
If there are enough Spanish speaking people around then its worthwhile to put up signs in two languages. People should learn the language that most people are speaking in a country, but they should not be forced in any way by law or threat of deportation.
If people really want to live in a country they tend to learn the language most spoken there.
I mean here where I live in Australia there are a lot of Asian people, more than half of my area probably. So there are lots of signs up in Korean or Mandarin in the area, they are also in English. The local bank offers mandarin translators.
And that's great. The way it should be, catering to all people whenever feasible. Most people who come to Australia learn english eventually by choice because they want to. In the meantime there are signs in other languages to help tourists and new migrants out in areas where there are a lot of new migrants.
People should learn the majority language where they live. But they should not be forced to.
Quit your bitching.

And those cherokee redskins lost this land fair and square.
If you can call "ruthless, sistematic genocide" fair and square...
They're in reservations now lol. No one gives a shit about their language.
You...you are...ugh...
There are no words in any languague, not even Mordor's tongue,to describe how much of a vile piece of scum you are.
Please, stop wasting oxygen that should go to more productive people.
(In the case you're a troll,I still stand by what I have said above.Prick.)
You might want to avoid my neighborhood. Not that I'd miss you. I recently got my city census in the mail to fill in, with a second sheet saying, "This is omportant. Please have it translated." in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer, Russian, Hindi, Arabic, and Greek, and a few others I can't remember. Most hospitals around here have multi-lingual signage, too. There, it might save someone's life. It's simply the reality of life in a major city.
AVISO- Este es importante. Por favor traducirlo.
100322- Most of us learn to speak French at least a little in school- my kids, once they're old enough for school, have the choice between taking a course in French or French immersion. (My parents put me in the immersion option.) So there are a good few bilingual Canadians. That's probably why.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
