The way that God speaks about idol worship, false religions and so on is very strident. Isaiah does not mince his words: “throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, ‘Away with you!'”
False religious practice deserves as much respect as a used tampon. Of course that is not PC but it is what God’s word says.

The thing is, which religion is the true one?
You don't deserve the respect of a used tampon--the one true religion is Goomyism.
Mandy, you do realize that most of the world considers most religious practices as more than a little dotty, including yours, don't you?
You want to compare other religions like used tampons? Fine. But then allow me and them the right to see yours as used toilet paper. As long as you maintain everyone's right to their own opinions on religion we don't have a problem. As soon as you try to enshrine that opinion under law that's when there's a problem. Got it?
Oh yeah, and it's funny that a religion where the vast majority of members pray to a cross can complain about idolatry, but it's your right.
That's not what God's word says. Actually, God's word is, "I am a beardie old git to whom you should send your spare virgins".
Oh, by the way, I haven't shit myself, that stupid expression on my face is me listening intently as God explains to me all about genocide and how I'll be entitled to all the spoils of war and fresh virgins. Cool! I love Bible God.
So false religions are every other one but yours? Funny, every religious belief says that.
They can't all be right; they can, however, all be wrong.
"that is not PC"
It's Mac?
Attitudes like this are why monotheism is one of the world's great evils. It's a small step from an attitude like this to carrying out violence in your god's name. It's really easy to dehumanize other people when you believe there's only one god and only one way to properly worship him. This is part of why I embraced polytheism. When you believe that there's many, many gods and even more ways to worship them, it suddenly doesn't matter at all if your neighbor worships different gods than you. They're all equally real and nobody worships them all, so what difference does it make?
So, do all women say "Away with you!" every time they go to the bathroom during moontime?
I'm suddenly tempted to say in dramatic fashion "Away with you!" every time I change my tampon, in the spirit of mockery of Madeline's madness!
@ John
Everyone's religious practices are false according to somebody. As atheists like to say, "we're all atheists - I just deny the existence of one more god than you do."
That assumption is incorrect. The exclusion meme is unique to monotheism. Most polytheists have no problem acknowledging the existence and vaidity of gods and religions other than their own. For example, I'm a Roman reconstructionist. I worship the Roman gods and I do it in the Roman manner. This does not mean that I deny other people's gods and ways of worship. The Norse gods, the Hindu gods, the Shinto Kami, Yahweh, and any others you can think of. All real and deserving of respect and worship. To claim that we're all athiests to some extent is just as invalid as the monotheist claim that deep down everyone believes in their god and are just too fond of sin to acknowledge it.
Do you say "Away with you!" whenever you throw away a tampon, Maddy?
Why are you using tampons, btw, when the Bible apparently prescribes cloth?
All religious practices look false from my perspective.
Thanks for giving me license to treat them all with as much respect as a used tampon, Maddy.
Confused?
