To answer Smith and James and any other unbeliever. You are thinking in human terms not Godly ones. Man brought evil in to the World when Adam sinned against God by breaking
His rules. We all bear this mark of wrongdoing called Sin as a result, and nothing we can do on Earth can wash us clean of Sin. Jesus is one of the three parts to God referred to as the Trinity, he was man and God and died in forgiveness of all mans sin. All you have to do is believe in him and He represents you before God and the price is paid. God demands payment for breaking his perfect rules and if you choose to reject salvation in Jesus Christ then God has no choice but to punish you because you dont have representation before Him, if He didnt punish sin He could not be called a righteous and Holy God. ( you could be a really nice person but does that mean the Police wouldn’t arrest you if you did something against societies rules), It’s mans fault not God, Heaven is a perfect place void of sin, God cannot let it enter his perfect realm. He made the rules and we all get the choice as to whether we follow them or break them. Also Smith, the bible teaches all good things come from God, love happiness joy etc, hell is a place where you are cut off from God so there is no love joy etc, that is the torture and the punishment, but it’s eternal. The only thing we really have freedom to choice on in life is whether we believe or we don’t, but it’s worth thinking, what if your wrong?
