[Mayor of Olean, NY allowed a Nativity scene to be placed in front of city hall. A Wiccan symbol was placed beside it until someone ran over it with their truck. What was that about freedom of religion? Rapture Readians respond:]
FrankBeMe:
"It's good to see "accidents" like this."
By His Grace:
"Amen!"
Teach Me:
"Makes me mad that a wiccan symbol was allowed to be placed near a nativity scene. Couldn't they either do it before or after and let us have just these few days???
Good grief."
patnmel97:
"OH bummer!
NOT! I just can't feel bad for them wiccans...."
WillieJ:
"Good for the man with the truck. Witch craft is condemned in the Bible and doesn't need to be displayed with Christianity."

Make a fake News article that has a multiple religion display in a city center and say that the christian part was vandalised and the others left alone and then see how they react.
Probably they'll condemn the vandal to hell
Feel the hypocrisy.
A DECENT person would say something like, "That's disrespectful! Why would anyone do that?"
The Rapture cultists, however, seem to be saying, "People are different than us! They should be punished!"
Wiccans have just as much right to flaunt their made up religion as the Christians do.
More right, actually, because the Wiccans flaunting means crystals and doodads, and the Christians flaunting means lynchings of black people and killing gays and torturing heretics. You know, things that are illegal.
I just don't think the Wiccans should have done it. There's no need - forcing your beliefs onto others should be left to the Christians - they have so much more experience at it. It's like nailing an egg to the cross (a no-prize to someone who gets a reference).
And no, never been in a Catholic Gift Shop, but I always wanted a Virgin Mary Tape Dispender (another no-prize up for grabs...)
Nice. So the Wiccans just wanted their religious symbol included to piss Christians off, huh?
But at least one person on there said that running it over was a shitty thing to do. Though, for a misguided reason.
These people seriously need to research as to what the ACLU actually does.
Well, now I'm curious. Was the Wiccan symbol the pentagram (not the inverted)? If it was, are these people sure that it was Wiccan? For all that they know, it could have been a Nativity scene with a... star?

Father Dougal, Flight into Terror.
Not all Wiccans use crystals...
Okay. My mum has a shitload of crystals and I keep an amethyst and citrine in my wallet.
I'd've personally tied antlers to the Baby Jesus and said, "Lo, the Horned Lord Jeebus is born."
I have seen something I thought I'd never see!! There are sane rational people in Rapture Ready!
I've never seen posts like this in RR, going against what the majority of the fundy posters say.

"I think it would be better to reach out to the Wiccan's to show them the Christian way. For there is only one TRUE way. The man who ran over the Wiccan symbol made himself no better than those who destroy Christian symbols. At least in the eyes of the Wiccan.
Yes, the Bible does speak out against those type of symbols, however, the laws of the land does not allow us to pick and chose which symbols are allowed to destroyed or not.
The man could have found a better way to handle his protest."

"Do I believe in Wicca? No. Should Wiccans be allowed to practice their religion freely according to the constitution? Yes. I'm not going to sit here and cry about persecution Christians face in a country with the first amendment, then go and smirk and chuckle when a minority religion faces the same, because that would be hypocritical.
A crime is a crime, and just because its against a non-Christian/their property doesn't somehow make it right."
I live in the area and a surprising number of people around here were supportive, despite the large Catholic population. The rest just didn't know what a pentacle or Wiccan was. It was heart-warming, in a amusing sort of way, until the accident. though, sadly, you had to know at least one opponent would do something stupid and terrible. What's not reported is that the night before it was put up the first time, someone egged the pentacle while it was leaning against it's owner's house. Fortunatly, eggs don't have the same effect on pentacles that they have on cars.
Wiccans should get to put up their displays too. Seriously, it's only fair that they get their chance to put up a decoration without douchenuggets spoiling it. It's actually a very peaceful, benign religion.
"Couldn't they either do it before or after and let us have just these few days?"
Um, Christmas was originally a Pagan holiday, so why should we let you have "these few days"? if your not happy with stealing one of our holidays then give it back.
Confused?
