[Commenting on the Newsweek article about Patrick Henry College]

Moreover, the college errs by welcoming young ladies to an environment where they will be trained to “stand in the gates” as should men (Proverbs 31:23) rather than encouraging them to prepare for serving the Lord as faithful helpmeets in the ministries of their fathers or husbands (I Corinthians 11:8-9; I Timothy 5:18). The article says about the students at Patrick Henry, “They aim for White House internships, Supreme Court clerkships and positions with lobbying groups. The minority of Patrick Henry students who don't have Washington in their sights dream of directing Christian movies or, in the case of many of the women there, raising (and home-schooling) families of Christian children.” Id.

How wonderful it is to hear of aspiring mothers who see the responsibility of raising Christian children as a worth-while goal in taking dominion and making disciples for the Lord. But how is a college setting going to prepare a young woman in the skills, mindset, and character needed to be a helpmeet, disciple-maker, and home-builder?
