With all that's coming down in our world today, is anyone you know of talking about moving to the country or a get-away of some kind?
The news is getting more and more dramatic, and in some Christian circles there is active talk of leaving big cities and moving to small towns or rural areas. Maybe because of more self-sufficient living, or maybe the fear of terrorist attacks in metropolitan areas...I'm not sure.

he's right though.
fundies are stockpiling supplies, weapons and people in rural or wild areas.
because even they don't believe this shit but know people like them are gonna create chaos
With the current economy, gas prices, grocery prices, I don't see anything at all odd or strange about trying to be more self-sufficient. Moving to a rural area where it's cheaper to live and you have room for a large garden for fresh food to offset rising grocery prices is very sensible, if it's reasonably possible. It isn't for everyone. The global climate isn't getting any better. We're obviously on the verge of going to war with Iran. Quite frankly, a more self-sufficient lifestyle is very probably going to be a necessity for survival very soon.
But it doesn't have a damned thing to do with Jesus riding down from heaven on a white horse with a sword in his hand.
Haha, if they all move out of the cities into small towns, the towns will get bigger, and then THEY'LL become hotbeds of liberalism too.
Oh good grief I hope not. The countryside doesn't deserve that.
Remember, these are the people who think it doesn't matter how much they fuck up the environment because God's just going to swoop down and clean it all up. Or whisk them away to another earth that hasn't been fucked up yet.
@IanC
If enough move into a small town they'll take it over, and start turnimng it into their vision of a true Xian (TM) community.
They'll start by hounding out teh gheys, and then mov eto witch persecution, maybe with special bylaws allowing expulsion (since they can't burn them)

That was in the 70's, man. Do try and keep up.
Most news stories I read are a "back to the city" movement. This reduces the sprawl of the last few decades, gets people closer to public tranpsortation, and in walking distance of many of their errands to cut down on gas. Living in a smaller place cuts down on heating and cooling. You're talking about the opposite. What a fucked-up sense of economics.
The way some Fundies say they are not a part of "The World", I'm amazed that more haven't gone out and started their own communal farms.
But that would be godless Socialism.
Once the exodus is complete, and the decent, normal, intelligent country people are relocated or separated, cut the roads and quarantine the bible freaks. They want self-sufficiency, wonderful!
Although I'm doing it because I'm antisocial, not because of fear (I don't fear people, I just want them to leave me alone). I plan to move to some land and become much more self sufficient. Also because my health was so much better back on the farm.
I know people who did move to a more rural area, to get away from all the commercialism, stress and the "artificiallity" of everything comming in plastic wrapping.
But not to be self-sufficient in any fundie way, rather to do their part in aiding the world in a more socialistic way.
You seem a tad vague there, Bubba. Make up your mind and go with it, m'kay?
You want self-sufficiency? When you people are so out of step with the world that you freak the fuck out over the TINIEST little liberal thing and yet you think you're ready for life off-grid which, I assume, wouldn't be without it's hairy moments?

For once, I completely agree with a Raptard. Thus we'll know exactly where you are. Then (to quote Cpl. Hicks in "Aliens"):
'...nuke the site(s) from orbit. It's the only way to be sure . '
>:D
Confused?
