(Are we seriously defending North Korea here? That is morally bankrupt as fuck.)
Yes, we are. Ever since the United States waged a terrifying genocidal war against the Korean people they have been the subject of a concentrated and unrelenting propaganda campaign. Wildly ahistorical, often racist, unscientific, and downright absurd accusations are never far from the popular consciousness. The most recent and cringeworthy example being the reporting that North Korean men were required to get Kim Jong Un -style haircuts. Other popular examples include assertions that the DPRK is a monarchy, or that it intentionally starves it’s citizens.
I support the people of the DPRK and their refusal to cooperate with the interests of imperialism, which is made clear by the continued agitation for a second Korean war from the United States and it’s NATO allies.
I support the people of the DPRK and their right to self-determination.
I support the people of the DPRK and their right to peace.
I do not, however, believe that the DPRK is a model to be followed by socialists.
