The point that Ms. Fluke was trying, and succeeding, to make is that the health insurance that women pay for should cover contraceptives without regard to the Bronze Age superstitions practiced by the institution administering the health insurance.
Don't know if you're aware of this Mr. Blount (Who am I kidding? Of course you don't), but TIME picks a person who is perceived to have had a great impact on national or world events. They don't have to be likeable, noble, or possess any redeeming characteristics at all, just to have had a marked influence in our lives. That's how Ayatollah Khomeini made it one year. Although I will say that I find Ms Fluke to be attractive, intelligent, and I agree with her position. Whether YOU like her or not is inconsequential to the editors at TIME.

Would that really help anything? How many non-fundies actually think she was "guilty" of even 5% of what Rush accused her of? I feel really, really sorry for Sandra Fluke.
Rush Limbaugh has gone and convinced a sizable portion of the American population into thinking she is some kind of deranged, disgusting nymphomaniac demanding government handouts. Instead of the brave intelligent women who wants the insurance she pays for herself to cover the medication women may need.
She is a name known by all Americans and quite a lot of people around the world. She will have to go through life with this undeserved infamy. She is probably harassed and demeaned on a regular basis by people just like this poster all because of the lies of Rush Limbaugh.
It makes me sick to think that this woman's future and life will have been irreparably harmed in such a way.
In what way is Sandra Fluke a parasite or a slut? She wanted a friend of hers to be able to afford medication against her polycystic ovary syndrome. Ms Fluke lent herself to be a spokesperson for people who are not as educated and/or articulate as she is.
What does morality have to do with medical afflictions of the uterus? Condoms won't help against polycystic ovary syndrome, asshole!
If anything, Obama is fighting on the side of Women. People like Limbaugh, Todd Akin, Judge Jacqueline Hatch, etc, are fighting against women and equal rights.
I'd say that a person who knowingly lets herself be a symbol for unappealing misogynistic bigoted monkeys like you to throw their verbal feces at, for the sake of heir friends, is a profoundly appealing human being, which does make her a natural candidate for Person of the Year; a person who actually stands up for her principles and values, even if her reputation might be damaged in the process.
