It might be important if evolution was a known fact, but it is still just a theory. Carbon dating isn't very accurate either. People who want to believe the earth is very very old and that God doesn't exist, want to believe that evolution is a fact and that carbon dating is actually accurate

Luanne, you seem to completely miss the point of science. It's not about non-questionable belief, it's about getting as close to the nature of things as possible through aquiring evidence. Scientific method is so that everyone can at least potentially test the results with objective means. Of course one may say that the world is non-cognizible altogether but even if this is true in some way, it's a non-rational and non-productive point of view. Stick with it if it's good enough for you but don't pollute others' brains with such socially-dangerous ideas.
It might be important if creation was a known fact, but it is still just a myth. Genesis begat dating is a load of crap too. People who want to believe the earth is very very young and that there is a giant man with a long white beard who lives on clouds, run into the difficult fact that we can claim the earth was created last thursday with equal factual support.
Yeah, just like the theory of gravity.
Float away now, Loony. Float away.
"....just a theory."
Paging Mr. Inigo Montoya. Would Mr. Inigo Montoya please report to the information desk, thank you.

A scientific theory is stronger than just a known fact, stupid.
"People who want to believe the Earth is very young and that God exists, want to believe that evolution is not fact/theory and that carbon dating isn't accurate."
Fixed that for ya, Luanne.
The Mint-Condition Mind, I'd say. No-one has ever touched that Mind with dangerous things like facts or knowledge...

that evolution occurs is a demonstrated fact. We've sen it happen, in real time, in living populations. These observations include extinction and speciation events, which by definition represent macroevolution.
Carbon dating is accurate over a range of about 2 to 45 thousnad years, when applied to appropriate samples (i.e., organic remains that incorporate carbon isotopes from the atmosphere by respiration).
Even if we threw out all evidence from evolution and carbon dating, there is still abundant evidence demonstrating the earth is on the order of 4.5 bilion years old (for example, radio-isochron dating using isoptes other than C14, such as Potassium/argon).
Doesn't matter what I want to believe, because the science is readily available.
Stop being so frightened of reality.
Makes me angry when assholes like Hovind denigrate, misrepresent, and lie about science.
