"This is another case of 'gotcha politics' against a conservative leader. Todd Akin has a long and distinguished record of defending women, children and families. He has fought against forcing taxpayers to subsidize abortion giant Planned Parenthood, which is the bedrock of Claire McCaskill's base of support. When speaking about the issue of rape, let's not forget the cover-up of statutory rape by Planned Parenthood, which to my knowledge has not been addressed by Senator McCaskill.
"Throughout his twelve years in Congress, Todd Akin has supported legislation that honors all human life. He has opposed the commodification of women in contrast to his opponent, Claire McCaskill, who has a long record of promoting the abortion industry while ignoring how abortion harms women. We know Todd Akin, and FRC Action PAC enthusiastically endorses his candidacy," Mackey concluded

Claire McCaskill, who has a long record of promoting the abortion industry while ignoring how abortion harms women
While forcing a woman to care an ectopic pregnancy to term must be absolutely wonderful for her. And before you accuse me of exaggerating, the OFFICIAL Republican platform this year is "no abortions, no exceptions".
let's not forget the cover-up of statutory rape by Planned Parenthood
I'm not sure if you mean a PP employee rape a girl or if you mean that a girl got raped and PP didn't say anything to the media or law enforcement about that but in the first case that's a legitimate complaint (if it actually happened) and should be investigated and if it's the second case that's called doctor-patient confidentiality.
Todd Akin has a long and distinguished record of defending women
Right. Because I can just imagine all of those women wanting to throw their career aside and raise a rape baby, as a single parent, just because some scumbag raped them and got them pregnant. Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what women want. No wonder women are voting Republican in a 35%-65% margin.
And once more dionysus has said what I was going to say.
I hope you never get raped, Connie; it's not a thing I'd wish on anybody. But if you do, just remember what you said here.
And I really don't believe PP is funding Senator McCaskill's entire campaign.
Yeah, gotcha, as in we noticed you're talking bullsh*t, ignoring the science on the subject and demeaning people. STFU and crawl back under you rock.
There is no proof that PP does anything of the sort. Only 3% of what they do is about abortion procedures which no tax money goes to, they're very transparent about this. The rest is preventive care to women who otherwise might not be able to get it. If I want my tax money to go anywhere, it's to places like PP.
Akin can kiss my ass.
While the Republican party blinds it's followers with inanities regarding abortion and gay marriage, it can sneak in all sorts of ideas that will genuinely impoverish, not only it's own supporters, but the entire world. They don't even have to offer 'bread and circuses' anymore.
Americas' true problem is that the Democrats are no better.
It's a case of yet another Republican saying stupid and incredibly reactionary stuff, that causes long-time voters to switch sides. If he don't want to be attacked for saying misogynistic things, he'd better not say misogynistic things.
Nobody is forced to have an abortion, surely? It sounds like Connie thinks that PP travels the streets and captures pregnant women to perform abortions on them against their will. Or that they stand on street corners accosting pregnant women with "Hey, why not have a nice, fun abortion? Special offer this week, three for the price of one!".
Sure, some women are harmed by an abortion, but some women are harmed by pregnancies and child birth too. Just google Fistula hospital, and you can see what happens to young girls having kids way too early, or without the help of a midwife. Living is dangerous; you will die from it.
Let's first honor all human life that is actually living, and having a functioning nervous system. When every single child (post-birth) is having a decent life with enough food, water, care and education, then we can worry about lumps of cells that have about a one in five chance of becoming a human being one day. OK?

Sounds to me like he's got a "long and distinguished" record of defending clumps of cells, not women, children and families.
"abortion harms women"
STFU. Abortion is a heart-wrenching decision, and it can cause medical distress. But you lot don't bother to weigh that against the distress of having children you neither want nor can afford, or in Akin's case, might look like the man who raped you.
"Planned Parenthood, which is the bedrock of Claire McCaskill's base of support. "
Yeah, right. PP's "Action Arm" put less than 2 million into the entire 2012 presidential campaign. Compare that with the donations to Rmoney from any other PAC, corporation, billionaire, etc. PP's political activity is focused on the survival of the organization, in order to continue providing medical services to women.
He's not defending women, children, and families. He's defending clumps of cells so primitive they don't have a functional brain, perhaps because he feels a special kinship with them.
Yes Mr. Akin, and all the other conservatives,
thank you, for fighting against the biggest breast-cancer check-up provider, thank you, for fighting against an organisation that fights STDs, thank you, you really did a lot for women - in other countries evolutionary speaking.
A non-American, non-female who thinks you are a shame to your country.
"This is another case of 'gotcha politics' against a conservative leader
I know, right? How dare liberals, smearing God-fearing conservatives by shamelessly quoting the things they say.
Todd Akin first says that women can't get pregnant from "legitimate" rape, then says that if they do it's a "gift form God." Just like Santorum.
I honestly don't know why any woman in the entire country would ever vote Republican.
Confused?
