This one sounds a little fishy
To my best understanding a 9 year old girl should not be capable of falling pregnant. However, I could be completely wrong. Perhaps she developed early?
Still expecting a 9 year old to carry twins to term? Are they absolutely crazy? I shudder just thinking of the damage that kind of pregnancy can have on a young body.
Of course chances are even if she tried to carry them to term, they would probably abort mid term because a 9 year old body is not designed to support being pregnant.
It got a lot worse than this. They have excommunicated anyone involved with the abortion - the girls family, the doctors etc.

I would never normally encourage abortion. I believe it's a horrible, yet necessary thing people do if they can't afford kids, or can't have them for some other reason, but should only be used if absolutely needed.
And this is one of those cases. Little girl, tell them to fuck off.
What the fuck? No, really. What? Do you even remember being nine? Did you shower alone and know how to tie your own shoes back then? Do you think this would make a good mother, assuming whe even survived?

I asked God to clarify this and He said it's true, however the Catholic Church must excommunicate all combat veterans, Drug Enforcement Agents, Police, and also any government official that was in office when use of deadly force took place. Even the ones who have not directly discharged a weapon are guilty of being accessories to murder. No exceptions, not even self-defense. I said "you're kidding!" He said, "Don't piss me off. It's all or nothing with me. You should know that by now."
I love how they claim to be all about "saving lives" when the Doctors stated, in no uncertain terms that the girl probably would have died if she tried carrying them to term (abortion is illegal in Brazil except in case of rape and the mother's life is in danger).
So the catholic church would rather an innocent victim of rape die along with her unborn babies rather than allowing the Doctors to perform life-saving surgery to allow her to survive. Gotta love that logic.
You should see the discussion here in Brazil when we tried to add "impossibility of the Fetus surviving outside the womb" category to the allowed abortions. The mother would no longer has to suffer the whole gestation in cases of acephalism and others.
But, man, how the church complained!
I think what pisses off the papists most, is they let a potential Catholic Mother(TM) slip away.

The abortion debate has nothing to do with saving lives and everything to do with maintaining control. That's because REALLY saving lives might take some kind of effort or sacrifice, but getting bent out of shape over zygotes and egg and sperm cells, takes no effort at all - just be prepared to point fingers and blame.
Like pretending we're going to solve food shortages by building solar gardens in orbit around the earth - when we can't even get them built in say, the Sahara desert right here on earth. And if you can't get a little project like THAT off the ground...

Yeah, the story's true. Yeah, the 9-yr-old was pregnant of twins. Yeah, it was her father's. Yeah, the Archbishop is an asshole. He's always bitching about free, State-sponsored distribution of birth control (condoms, pills, etc), about sexuality, about the abortion of anencephalous fetuses.

Your own Babble disagrees with you, moron: see the difference between the punishments it prescribes for causing a woman to miscarry and for murder. Even actually born babies had to survive a few weeks (to make sure that they were reasonably viable) before they counted as a full human. Not to mention the parts where Babblegod orders His chosen barbarians to rip babies from the womb of their mother and joyfully smash the skull of infants on stones during their periodic attempts at genociding neighbouring tribes...

Nope, in Brazil we have the saparation of church abd state; however, the church, like any other organization, can hire a lawyer.
... and because the Supreme Court has already OK-ed abortion in cases of rape and/or threat to the mother's life (and this is both), he can rant and rave all he wants, it'll chance nothing whatsoever. The doctors may be denied the cosmic juju by excommunication, but I doubt they care.

These reminds me of this fundie show I was watching a long time ago, when they had teens on debating whether a young rape victim should have an abortion, and one boy got up and said "If my sister were raped, I'd want a niece or nephew." I wanted to reach through the TV screen and smack him then, and I want to smack this woman now.
