[other poster asked: Do you ONLY be "good" because God says so? You don't murder or anything because God says so but you would totally do it without the Bible telling you not to?]
Yep, we as a human race are just pure evil. That is just the way we were born. Without God's saving grace we would be completely lost. It is only because God is absolutely good that I even have a chance to be so. Otherwise, yes, I would choose evil.

Sooooo, the poster is suggesting that 'evil' is a choice.
Wouldn't that suggest God having nothing to do with whether one is 'evil' or not? After all, "...yes, I would choose evil."
Plenty of good, decent, and dare I say moral Atheists out there. I think this person may be onto something, whether they know it or not.
So you're an asshole completely devoid of empathy
Well that's good to know, but I don't need a god to tell me I should treat other humans with compassion
Speak for yourself! We as decent humans are mostly empathic and caring. If you're born evil, you're the exception, not the rule. Most of us decent people are decent regardless of "God's saving grace".
So we have:
An atheist, who does good because it is what is right.
vs.
A theist, who does what is right because he fears punishment.
How the hell do you get the idea that the theist is the moral one?
Utter twaddle. I am not evil, pure or otherwise. God, if it actually exists, is certainly not absolutely good. Plus, you're an ethically challenged a$$hole.
@ crealms82
I agree. I've learned from personal conversations that this is true of some fundies. They need a heavy-handed authoritarian threat hanging over their heads to keep them in line. Our misfortune is that they can't wrap their minds around the fact that not everyone lacks a moral compass, and so they attempt to force that control on the rest of us.
pure evil. That is just the way we were born.
So there's no choice?
...I would choose evil.
Huh?

I've just been having a bit of a discussion with someone about this very subject... and they declared time and again that no-one anywhere believes that you cannot possibly be good without God...
Yeah... it's be a real shame if there was a quote that showed people do believe that shit...
If you think we are a divine leash away from murder, rape, arson, and jaywalking, it says more about you than it does about me.
Seriously, dude? Empathy or compassion, whatever you want to call it. Empathy simply means considering something from someone else's perspective, recognizing and understanding how they feel. It doesn't mean you have to feel exactly the same as they do or have the same exact experiences.

Yep, we as a human race are just pure evil. That is just the way we were born.
No, seekinghim45, that is only you.
Just because I operate on a different morality doesn't mean I'm evil. Also, not having morality at all would imply a lack of good and evil...
Of course, let's not forget good and bad are subjective in the economic world...
Ahem...:

Thanks for the great advert for Satanism , fundies.
"Without God's saving grace we would be completely lost"
(*Whips out pocket GPS *)
See? Exact co-ordinates, and a graphical map telling me where I am at any time (and to guide me as to the destination I program into it, relative to it's current database). Oh, I'm afraid it's impossible for me to be 'lost'. [/hyper-smartarse]
...oh, and in b4 'Spiritual'. A rainbow doesn't physically exist, but can be seen , therefore even the concept of the 'Soul', ergo the so-called 'Afterlife', is completely destroyed.
I have this pocket GPS, and frankly - compared to your Old Testament 'God' - this is an infinitely superior moral compass than your so-called 'Religion', which you even admit is evil, so thanks for annihilating your own argument for me, buster! >:D
Yes, racial bias does indicate a lack of empathy and it is more difficult for people to have empathy for others viewed as different from them. Having empathy is important to enact social change, as explained here: http://youtu.be/BG46IwVfSu8
Whether or not you can recognize emotions in other people one can see things from another person's perspective, acknowledge how your actions affect other people, and reason whether or not your beliefs are ethical or discriminatory and biased. That's what I intended by posting. If someone is only living to "glorify god" they are only looking out for themselves and obviously not looking at things rationally and taking others into account.
Well, whatever keeps nutjobs like you from going on killing rampages...
*remembers the crusades, 30 years war, etc*
... oh wait a minute, religion doesn't actually do that. oops...
Confused?
