Only a Christian nation would have allowed this atheist a choice to not believe. Not even atheist nations give you a choice. You have to believe what they want you to believe. So the fact that he is able to freely protest proves to me that we live in a free Christian nation. History proves that there is no freedom without God. If only the atheist would learn this.

Whut? America is not a Christian nation, never was and hopefully never will be.

"You have to believe what they want you to believe"
Maybe in your congregation.
"So the fact that he is able to freely protest proves to me that we live in a free Christian nation"
Christian != freedom
"History proves that there is no freedom without God"
Your totally oblivious to history in general arn't you? America was the 1st nation founded on concepts of freedom and the constitution clearly states a separation of church and state, plus the freedom to worship as you choose.
"If only the atheist would learn this"
Translation = If only everyone would believe me when I speak. Then spreading my virus wouldn't be as difficult.
Except religious freedom was a sinful and evil concept in the christian world until the founding of America. A country with absolutely no national religion, and thus not a christian nation. Dumbass. And arent Europeans godless commie athiests? they still have religious freedom despite being FAR more secular.
the US is secular, we give everyone whatever religious choice they want, barring pedophilia, murder, etc.
Atheist nations? You mean ones with no religion that overwhelms the country and attempts to start throttling it slowly?
Sorry, I guess I must've missed where Canada cared about what religion anyone was. And everyone knows we're so intolerant...isn't that what we're famous for? Oh, wait...
"History proves that there is no freedom without God. If only the atheist would learn this."
You need a fucking history lesson, pronto. Start with Medieval Europe and the modern day Middle East.
Atheists don't want anyone to force anyone to act according to a single group's beliefs. That means Christians can be Christians so long as they allow atheists to be atheists, Muslims to be Muslims, pagans to be pagans, and so on.
What Jefferson said...
Something about liberty and priest-ridden states. They don't work together. Tell your preacher he's an ignorant asshole for us, OK?
History proves there is no religious war without religion.
"So the fact that he is able to freely protest proves to me that we live in a free Christian nation"
A free nation, yes. Well, at least theoretically (the Bush administration has eroded that freedom significantly, though thankfully not irreparably).
As for the United States being a Christian nation...
*shrugs* Well, since no one else has said it yet...

*headdesk*
Do these people seriously not realize that there are secular nations that aren't Communist?
@Some Guy: Actually, it's Oceania we've always been at war with. The Ministry of Love would like to have a word with you.
Byzantine Empire. Holy Roman Empire. Protestant Europe 16th-18th centuries. Modern day America. These are all entities where christianity was either the predominant religion, or the state sponsored religion, and history tells us they all failed as bad as communism. There was no freedom in these entities. And 100 or 200 years down the road, people will be saying the same thing about us. That America was predominantly christian, and while most of those christians were moderate to liberal in their beliefs, the minority fundamentalists wouldn't shut the fuck up long enough for freedom to reign. The minority fundamentalists made sure that everyone's freedoms were taken away, and everyon who didn't agree with them were oppressed. This is history.

Moderator note: Princess Rot has suffered an untimely brain fart and cannot comment on the sheer irony of this message.
This is full of bullshit assumptions, the least of which is that one can only find freedom in a "christian nation". All through out history theocratic governments and countries with a strong state church have proven, time and time again to be among the most totalitarian and opressive of societies, not the freedom loving nations that you describe them to be.
Your other false assumption is that belief is subject to the will, it is not. Either you are convinced that a concept/belief system/assertion is true, or you are not, No amount of wanting to believe something will make you believe it if you have doubts. With that said, there is no government, religion, or ideology on the planet that can make you believe something that you don't believe. You are either a True Believer(TM) or you are not, Nothing, I repeat, nothing can change that.
So your assertions are proven false, and in doing so I have show to you that atheists have nothing to learn from you as both history and simple human psychology have proven your assertion to be quite untrue and you reasoning skills to be woefully inadaquate. When you look at the world with your religious bliders on you become incapable of seeing anything as it truly is, you only see what you want too.
"Only a Christian nation would have allowed this atheist a choice to not believe."
Fail
"Not even atheist nations give you a choice."
More fail
"You have to believe what they want you to believe."
Still more fail
"So the fact that he is able to freely protest proves to me that we live in a free Christian nation."
Lots more fail
"History proves that there is no freedom without God."
Epic fail
"If only the atheist would learn this."
Seriously, how many more times do I have to drop the 4 letter F word?
May I point you to The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
"Not even atheist nations give you a choice"
You filthy, depraved LIAR. If lying was a crime, you'd get the electric chair for THAT whopper! Why?
We in the UK live an a virtually ATHEIST country; our political parties know that if any MP in their ranks publicly spoke, acted or thought in a fundy way, it would be a sure-fire vote killer*. The electorate (including me) don't care about a politician's religious affiliations (there's some Muslim MPs here), as long as they KEEP IT TO THEMSELVES (the Chief Whips of said parties would certainly make sure they did, for the above reasons!). Thus we have a very much secular country. After all, said Parliament (the basis of all other modern democracies) recently voted to reject a ban on Stem Cell research (and to not reduce the existing time for abortions)- that's TRUE Separation of Church & State, bitches. Homosexuality is accepted. We have a rich cultural diversity, stemming from our British sense of fair play & tolerance. And above all, respect for each others' beliefs - or LACK of them. And our country hasn't ceased to exist as a result.
Your move, DianefromKY.
*- We elected Edward Heath as Prime Minister in the early 70s - he was an Atheist.
"You have to believe what they want you to believe"
Not only are you exposing your unimaginable ignorance of leviathanic proportions (watch Fox News, much?), by saying what you did, you're showing your true colours by suggesting that if the US was a theocracy as YOU & your ilk would like it to be, then people wouldn't even have that choice. Two Words: Saudi Arabia.
Actually those pointing to Japan, France, Sweden, etc as atheist nations are incorrect, these countries are no more atheist nations as USA is a Christian nation. They are all secular nations.
An atheist nation would be soviet Russia, communist China, communist Cambodia, etc, where atheism was the state religion. Of course this worked as poorly as Christianity being the sate religion.
This goes to show that the only way to run a country is as a secular nation with freedom of religion for all people.
Confused?
