["a pregnancy would put me in danger. it would leave me jobless and homeless. it's -30 outside, I would freeze to death in a matter of hours. it is a threat to my life, so I should have the right to abort it. just like any woman should have if it's a threat to her life and well being. you don't know her circumstances, so you have no business running around shaming everyone you see who is talking about abortion."]
Are you actually trying to claim that you should have the right to kill the child growing within your womb because it’s cold outside? Do you honestly expect ANYONE to believe that a society - a grouping of civil human beings - would let a pregnant mother wander the frozen streets of their community without intervention to save her life and the life of her child? What world do you live in? If you ever become pregnant, which I suspect you never have, let me know. I will protect you and your child with my very life. As would almost every person walking this Earth with you today.
Please, step back from the rhetoric and reassess your convictions. You are better than human abortion. We all are.

Yes. Certainly in America. Let alone in other places.

Yes, shift, yes I do. Experience is a bitter teacher, and sadly one that, in this case, you won't have to learn from. Not only that, but most of these 'civil' human beings have no problems maliciously stating about how the mother is a 'slut', a 'whore', a 'tramp' and a 'sex addict', as well as stating how 'my tax money has no business going to a cunt like her'.
I actually find cultureshift slightly naïve, more than anything. He genuinely believes that birth control works 100% all the time, that birth control is even available all the time, and life is perfect with society coming together to help the infant if the mother is incapable of doing so.
Wrong answer, shithead. If you want prove what a wonderful person you are, why aren't you going after employers who fire women when they get pregnant? Or offer to take in anyone who looses a job because they're pregnant? Beef up maternity and unemployment benefits?
But no, shithead, you would rather shame pregnant women. What a champ you are.
Give them your address and get ready for a lot of company.
But no, here's what you'd surely do :"I'm sure the church will help you, it's four blocks down and should be open in,,ah,,48 hours. Where's the father slut? Don't see me going around without a father."
The only thing as common as the internet Toughguy or "professor" is the internet saint.
1) There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of pregnant women walking the streets right fucking now.
2) Your concern for her vanishes the very split-second she drops the sprog. As soon as that foetus hits air, you'll be arguing for taking away any and all social programs that provide for them.

I'm sorry. Is this your first trip to Earth? You really should have read the primer before interacting with the local population.
I will protect you and your child with my very life.
Anti-abortionists often say this. In fact you, cultureshift, often say this. Yet you never get down to specifics. So tell us, cultureshift, about the number of mothers and babies that you personally have fed and housed in the past year. Names and addresses of people who could verify your story, please.
A conservative willing to offer help to the poor free of charge and out of goodwill to a child?
Yeah, when jesus returns and/or when pigs fly.
What are the chances cultureshift actually donates or volunteers at homeless shelters?
Place your bets folks place your bets 5000/1 for a yes, best odds around. Bet in play, NOW!
Its an interesting argument. On the one hand, the point being made is that abortions can be made for the slightest and shallowest of reasons. There was a woman in the paper who wanted an abortion because childbirth might stretch her funhole and ruin her sexlife. Not such a great reason to kill a child.
On the other, if they really do want women to carry unwanted babies to term so they can be adopted, then by fuck you'd better step up and shoulder the burden. You dont get to dictate what people must do, and then run for cover when the piper needs paying.
Personally, I'd like to see a state funded scheme for the care and compensation of mothers who bring unwanted children to term - it should be a realistic option offered to women, rather than abortion being the easy or only realistic way out.
@warren mcintosh
And you think these people would approve of the taxpayer supporting that? At the end of the day, if a woman doesn't want a baby, for whatever ridiculous reason, she should have the right to decide. It is not a human until it can survive independantly, then it becomes a human life to be protected by law. Otherwise it might as well be illegal to not have sex constantly, as every wasted sperm and egg are potential lives.
Not only do US communities allow them to wander, people are arrested for feeding them.
Do an image search on "pregnant homeless woman," smartass.
-30 degrees isn't "cold", it's fucking life threatening. If she was thrown out on the street with that type of weather, I wouldn't expect anyone to help her, not because they're lazy, but because they've probably locked themselves into their homes and are trying to stay warm.

Now I feel kinda bad for picking on cultureshift because this proves they just don't understand how the world works.

It happens daily. People who sound exactly like you often applaud it when it happens.
"Do you honestly expect ANYONE to believe that a society - a grouping of civil human beings - would let a pregnant mother wander the frozen streets of their community without intervention to save her life and the life of her child?"
Well, I don't expect it to happen, but that's just how this world works. A herd of people will just ignore anybody that begs for help. Ever heard of the "Bystander effect / Bystander Syndrome"?
Besides, if religious nutjobs wouldn't shun women because they get pregnant outside of marriage, those women would actaually have a higher chance of being helped and surviving. Also, -30° is not just "cold", no matter if it's Farenheit or Celsius. It's outright lethal to people not protected from it. But you don't care, do you? You sadist.
"I will protect you and your child with my very life." Somehow, I severely doubt that. Honestly, Cultureshift, from what I've heard you say, you'd rather preform an impromptu C-section yourself just to make sure the fetus won't die with the ill mother. Even if that operation will most certainly kill the mother.
And then you'd probably just throw the child away as it's no longer a fetus.
Listen, Cultureshift, if you value human life that much, then why don't you go outside and help people? Volunteer at shelters, like what this hypothetical woman needed? Make your home a shelter and feed the poor? Make an actual difference instead of wasting your time harassing women who made desperate decisions in desperate moments.
Do you honestly expect ANYONE to believe that a society - a grouping of civil human beings - would let a pregnant mother wander the frozen streets of their community without intervention to save her life and the life of her child?
Sure they would. The "right to life" crowd is notorious for their indifference to children after they're born. They oppose food stamps, free school lunches, Medicaid, and any kind of program that might actually help the mother care for the child. They aren't even especially opposed to abortion; otherwise, they wouldn't oppose sex education and easier access to birth control. What they're really opposed to is non-procreative sex. The fetus and later, the child, is simply a pawn to punish a woman for having sex: use the threat of pregnancy to keep her celibate, and when that doesn't work, prevent her from having an abortion and make life as hard as possible for her after the child is born.
Actaully pregnancy discrimination causes 30,000 sackings each year in the UK and she could very easily fail at get welfare so, yeah, she could end up homeless. And homeless people don't get a decent share.
Hey, you realize that taking care of children costs money, right? For all you know, this woman could be surviving on just enough money to buy dinner and pay the rent.
Do you honestly expect ANYONE to believe that a society - a grouping of civil human beings - would let a pregnant mother wander the frozen streets of their community without intervention to save her life and the life of her child?
If they're Republicans, then yes. I've known people with the attitude of "Not with my tax dollars. She shoulda kept her legs together."
"Do you honestly expect ANYONE to believe that a society - a grouping of civil human beings - would let a pregnant mother wander the frozen streets of their community without intervention to save her life and the life of her child?"
Cultureshift, do you honestly believe that our society cares much about, say, a severely mentally ill homeless pregnant woman? Or one with a drug addiction? Or one who works as a prostitute? Or who has a history of theft or violence? Or one in an on-again-off-again relationship with someone who commits domestic violence against them? Or who is homeless with her boyfriend and four older kids?
Real homeless pregnant women (of which there are thousands on the street in this country alone) are not just some hypothetical, pure-but-helpless, damsels in distress waiting for you to show up in your shiny white armor and save them. They are real people with real problems, who need real help and real options.
If you think denying them control of their own reproductive choices but allowing them to crash on your couch for a few days is going to make everything better, you need to get the hell out of this debate until you are far more educated about the world.
"What world do you live in?"
The real one. Which one do you live in?
How many children have you taken in to prevent abortions?
"Are you actually trying to claim that you should have the right to kill the child growing within your womb because it’s cold outside?"
You're speaking as if at all stages of gestation following fertilization the developing zygote, embryo or fetus represented an actual human child. On what rational basis, cultureshift?
Confused?
