There is a thing called good parenting, absence of it leads to wild and out of control kids (ex. emos, homosexuals, druggies, etc). If any child of mine decided to become gay I would kill myself inside knowing I've failed them as a parent.

My parents were excellent parents according to your standards as well as mine. As such, I'm something of a disappointment to them, I think, and a disappointment to myself. But I can't help the way I am.

First of all, naming yourself after a DBZ character is the biggest disclaimer of stupidity.
Second of all, what about all of the good parents that have drugged out kids?
Third of all, being homosexual and having a chemical imblance in your brain that makes you depressed means you failed as a parent? It is a sin to have preferences or be mentally ill?

In that case, in which sense does the free will, the personal circumstances or the uniqueness responsability of your child as a human being count?. Moreover, if you kill yourself and you attribute it all to yourself, how do you reconcile it with your free will?

Druggies - What do you mean by this? There are some people who use these substances in ways I think are sustainable and not necessarily notably detrimental to health, and then there are junkies who binge until they overdose at 27. Which is it?
Why I feel that this guy, rather than fundy, is the typical naive one who thinks "this is not gonna happen to me" because he hasn´t got any children yet(and believe me, if their children are homosexuals, or criminals for that matter, he will not do it)
I remember a colleague of my parents who said nearly exactly this. An extreme homophobe. And the inevitable happened: His son had his "coming-out" at age 20.
His father tried every kind of emotional blackmail. He threatened to commit suicide should his son not "choose" to become heterosexual again and marry a girl.
His son didn't care at all about these ramblings. He moved far away from home, applied for a stipend, got a good college education. He is now working as an engineer, is successful in his job, and is in a stable and loving partnership since 10 years, with a good-looking hispanic gay. I even think they married some time ago, or at least went into a civil union partnership.
His father is still alive ;-) And of course he didn't commit suicide. He has cast out his son and doesn't speak with him anymore. But thats his problem ;-)
