Are we really going to play this game of “not all antifa”? One could overlook isolated incidents of violence, with antifa it’s a regular thing and when they march, stuff gets broken. And where are these pro-capitalist antifa groups I keep hearing about?

I am not denying there are lots of deaths from COVID, and I haven’t ignored the problem in my personal life as far as contact with older relatives go, the problem is the number doesn’t match what we were told would happen and the government does not deserve to have that much power, not even temporarily. We’ve also seen how this power of locking down is abused worldwide. If as much as 100 million could be reduced to extreme poverty that is not a price worth paying to stop or slow down a virus.

Look at their models for US and UK, they said 81% would be infected and you’d see 2.2 million dead Americans, 510k dead British, with the peak of daily deaths being reached in 3 months if there was no mitigation and the spread effectively ending after 6 months.

None of this happened as expected, not to the extent it was expected for the period the prediction was made.

To add insult to injury plenty of places with strict lockdowns did worse than Sweden while indirectly killing other people through the neglect of cancer, heart disease, autoimmune disease and other non-COVID illnesses. And it’s disingenuous to blame people for not following the rules, when some would literally starve to death or go insane from the boredom or become less healthy (and thus more susceptible to COVID) if they followed all the insane rules by which no human society has ever functioned before. In practice antifa is not merely being against fascism, it’s a violent radical left movement that routinely engages in property destruction, both public and private, and its targets are rarely fascists. It’s not “literally Satan” but if you can’t firmly condemn it or worse cheer it, maybe even join it, there’s not much hope for you.

WBC celebrates whenever anything bad happens to… pretty much anyone. They will even rub it in by protesting your funeral and they’ll call it fair because you’re part of a country that allows freedom for homosexuals.

When you support antifa you’re supporting communists and their useful idiots, you’re supporting lawless thugs who will maim people for life and will destroy their place of business and they’ll call it fair because you’re part of a country that allows capitalism i.e. people doing whatever they want with their earned property.

Now nothing is a perfect apples to apples comparison, but it’s hard to get any scummier than celebrating or even causing the misfortune of someone all because you hate the system.

It’s not a surprise you don’t like Trump, but what he said about antifa is more or less accurate. I would have said it’s a terrorist movement rather than an organization and that’s a trivial distinction. Assume for a moment someone other than Trump said the exact same statement, for you to have this reaction to it can only be explained if you have some sympathies for antifa or you identify with their cause. You also confirmed it yourself at least even if others may continue to be in denial, and that makes you a moral idiot. There is no reason why you should believe that you are any better than then fundies you rail against and the same goes for those of you that still support lockdowns, ruining the lives of billions using actual fascist methods to stop a virus based on alarmist projections about the rate of spread and fatality. Remember when the Imperial College of London projected 100k dead in Sweden by July? Never happened.

FSTDT finally shows its poorly concealed sympathies towards antifa and… nobody who has been following the decline of FSTDT for the last 10 years is surprised. Good job at becoming on par with the Westboro Baptist Church. About as irrational, about as close-minded, about as obsessed, about as psychotic, about as fundie.

There’s a good chance he had it and not much happened.

This virus is overblown, if you’re not old or vulnerable and you don’t live in a country with garbage hospitals and garbage care in general you’ll be fine. It’ll just be a nastier flu.

There are ways to protect the old (and also to protect yourself if you’re old) without locking up the entire country like it’s North Korea.

The only reason a stimulus is even needed is because politicians (typically left-leaning but not necessarily) completely destroyed the livelihoods of millions over a virus with draconian lockdowns that many here still support even after they’ve been shown to be both disproportionate to the actual danger and largely ineffective as they merely delay some infections, not prevent them or make the virus go away.

The stimulus checks should be paid from the politicians’ own accounts, assets fully confiscated if the debt can’t be covered and then they belong in the Hague with whatever consequences that comes with.

Do people realize that being pro-lockdown is itself a “fundie” position in every way it’s possible to hold a “close-minded, willfully ignorant, obsessed” position?

Aside from destroying careers, destroying businesses, eroding liberty, undermining the financial stability of the country itself, causing non-COVID related health issues to be neglected with non-COVID patients turned away (or scared into staying home even when they have a medical emergency), delayed from cancer screenings, making a large number of kids fall behind on education with “online schools” that don’t really work that well for a great deal of kids (some who don’t even know how to use a computer), causing other health problems from lack of outdoor activity, increasing mental illnesses from lack of social interaction (no doubt at least some EDs too and suicides a lot harder to fix than COVID) and putting hundreds of millions of people in danger of starvation in the poorest countries - it isn’t even a solution that actually works.

The UK which has had utterly insane lockdown policies that intrude in private lives and even go as far as to ban your from purchasing certain “non-essential items” even if the store has both essential and non-essential items on display, this country actually has a slightly higher mortality rate compared to the US which did not fully lockdown (some states did, some didn’t, in many cases the restrictions were also not as severe as UK’s).

Hell, Sweden which did not lockdown or even impose any meaningful restrictions really has a lower mortality per million than a lot of the countries that had strict lockdowns.

You know why? Because they are not sustainable and even if you halt a rise in cases initially, people will get sick anyway once the lockdown can no longer be continued. This is not a world that’s functional with hermit families, there are entire professions that can’t be done remotely.

Should we talk about how elitist this is as well? It’s far easier to isolate when you’re already in a relationship, you have a nice big home with a yard or if you’re simply a computer nerd who stays indoors anyway.

I’ve read countless cases of young families with kids that had a nice small business in hospitality and are now basically broke and nearly homeless.

Countless better solutions have always been available. COVID is also not a dangerous disease for young people, for minors the flu is MORE not less dangerous, it only really starts to become significantly more dangerous than the flu past the age of 50 but with almost all deaths happening over 60. It would have been less costly in every way imaginable to simply help older or more vulnerable people to shelter in place (if they want to, no medical act should be forced, not hard to do either as you can give UBI temporarily to those with 0 income) while others go about their business. It’s also a valid option to be 80 and ignore every advice if you value your way of life over safety.

These measures will be talked about for years long after COVID is gone or diminished and the politicians who went along with them won’t be remembered kindly. By any objective standard, these nation-wide quarantines are nothing more than a crime against humanity. The lockdowns were implemented following China’s authoritarian model and were based on projections that failed to materialize anywhere and based on a mortality rate that was greatly exaggerated compared to the reality. IFR for COVID is nowhere near the 3.4% fatality rate we were initially told, that’s just CFR. Most COVID cases are not diagnosed as they don’t produce symptoms bad enough to warrant a test or hospitalization.
