[The fault lies not with the woman who refused him but with the man who continued despite her protests.]
WRONG. The woman sinned by not dressing modestly, and tempting the man. The man sinned by lusting after a woman that is not his wife, and raping her. In your example the woman sowed seeds of lust in the man, and she reaped the consequences of her actions. While both were guilty of sin, legally the man will be punished criminally.
[Looking at it in another light, if a man went out with a fancy suit and got mugged, would you say that the man was tempting his mugger?]
No the mugging is not his fault, nor did he sin. He may have not been very smart about being on a good side of town, and not going overboard in being flashy. I don't believe the Bible says that being rich is a sin, but it does talk about women dressing modestly.

you're cruel. i would never, EVER wish a rape on anybody, but you're slowly starting to change my thinking. the mugger analogy is a good one--he was "tempting" a mugger in the same manner that you claim a woman revealing ankles and elbows "tempts" a man to rape her. (read: he wasn't.)
by you, bro. randy, and the rest of the T4C totalitarians insisting that a woman dressing "immodestly" can cause a man to "lose control," and not be able to think clearly, you're saying that women are in fact stronger than men, and that we have more control over men than you like us to think.
in short, you're a heartless, evil witch.
Except that Jesus says that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. Therefore, since it is impossible for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, it is impossible for a rich person to get into heaven. If being rich excludes one from heaven, doesn't that make being rich a "sin?"
Someone should tell Pat Robertson and Bennie Hinn.
So, you´re admiting that men are idiots unable to control their urges, but if they steal it´s their blame only, if they rape, they can´t help it. No logic, sorry.
Sick sick sick...
I'll have to start dressing with more care, who knew my choice of skirt could bring about the undoing of men, here was me thinking men were like me and able to control their urges meh.
Oh and I might be remembering it wrong but I thought the eye of a needle was the name for one of the pedestrian gates into one of the larger biblical cities so it is possible to get a camel through one but only with great difficulty
One of the few things sicker than a rape apologist is a female rape apologist.
FOAD, you vile excuse for a woman. Just because you're the product of your mother "tempting" your grandfather, it doesn't mean you should excuse such behavior.
Yeah, it's Randy's wife. They're disgusting together.
Their entire argument hinges on the woman dressing immodestly. If only immodest women get raped, why do infants get raped? Why do nuns get raped? Why do nursing home residents get raped? Did all the females in Berlin just happen to be dressed like whores when the Russian Army invaded in 1945?
Someone really should troll this site just to point out that modest dress doesn't protect anyone from rape.
I feel most sorry for this woman's daughters. Imagine if one of them gets raped. "It was your fault, honey, because you insisted on showing your wrists when you went out!" Ugh. Psychological abuse, nothing more, nothing less.
And I always interpreted the part about women dressing "modestly" (I assume she's talking about 1 Peter) to be referring to dressing without a lot of glitz and accessories - if you look at the context, that's clearly what Peter was describing (i.e., he says not to wear the braided hair and excessive gold jewelry, etc.). Basically, women shouldn't be dressing like they're loaded when they come to church. (Which actually strengthens the analogy of the woman getting raped = the rich man getting mugged.)
The more I read this crap, the more I become convinced that teens-4-christ is actually a S/M fundie group trolling for less than bright teenage girls to brainwash as slaves for their male members. These people people are anti-female, pro-domestic abuse (as long as the male is the abuser and the female the abused), and full of excuses for all MALE committed sins by blaming the female victim. You know I hope that these people have to explain their perversion before God, cause I imagine She's real pissed!
It's amazing how beaches and public swimming pools around the world have some how not turned into terrible violent mass gang rapes.
Might it have something to do with the fact that the vast majority of men are able to control their sexual urges?
And those who can't? Well, they won't be able to whether there's a scantily clad woman around or not.
I don't believe the Bible says that being rich is a sin, but it does talk about women dressing modestly.
Err... read, well, MOST parts of your damn holy book. It doesn't explicitly say that it's a sin to be rich, but it does say it's a sin to be greedy; to be rich while others are poor.
Matthew 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
This is a favorite... unfortunately not quite as extreme as one would like. The original text reads "The Eye of the Needle" which was one of the smaller gates of the city of Jerusalem. A camel could pass through it, if it was careful; it was merely difficult.
They got rape on the brain on T4C, or what? Makes you wonder about the Randy Family sex life, does it not?
(OK, I realise that will make you want to scrub your brain clean, but what the hell).
WHY DO YOU STUPID FUCKING PEOPLE THINK REVEALING CLOTHING RATHER THAN POWER IS THE SOURCE OF THE VAST MAJORITY OF RAPES!
UGH.
Why bother even being civil any more with these moronic, deluded, braindead fuckwits?
Lots and lots of cash tempts me to take it. But if I rob a bank, it's not the bank's fault, even though they were blatantly advertising the fact that the building is full of money.
And last I checked, the Bible has a good deal of things to say regarding the evils of being rich.
Oh and I might be remembering it wrong but I thought the eye of a needle was the name for one of the pedestrian gates into one of the larger biblical cities so it is possible to get a camel through one but only with great difficulty
"For the last two centuries it has been common teaching in Sunday School that there is a gate in Jerusalem called the eye of the needle through which a camel could not pass unless it stooped and first had all its baggage first removed. After dark, when the main gates were shut, travellers or merchants would have to use this smaller gate, through which the camel could only enter unencumbered and crawling on its knees! Great sermon material, with the parallels of coming to God on our knees without all our baggage. A lovely story and an excellent parable for preaching but unfortunately unfounded! From at least the 15th century, and possibly as early as the 9th but not earlier, this story has been put forth, however, there is no evidence for such a gate, nor record of reprimand of the architect who may have forgotten to make a gate big enough for the camel and rider to pass through unhindered."
From biblicalhebrew.com
Christians have a long history of watering down some of Jesus' more difficult teachings to make them more palatable. This is one example.
I don't believe the Bible says that being rich is a sin, but it does talk about women dressing modestly."
Matthew 19:24
Camel + eye of needle. QED BIATCH!
Well everyone's done the camel passing wind through the eye of a needle or whatever it is, so let's look at biblical rape. It was never about dressing immodestly, it was about being a spoil of war, or using your property be it a wife or a servant to "it's" fullest.
this is simply pathetic. i hope that either this woman is unable to have children, or, the children she does have are fortunate enough to break out of this kind of self hatred. honestly, what the FUCK?
I don't believe the Bible says that being rich is a sin, but it does talk about women dressing modestly.
So then what was that whole thing about Lazarus and the Rich Man about?
Did you even think before you wrote this? How can one rule only apply when you want it to? Temptation is temptation. Or it's just selfish violence.
Did you ever think of the old women who can't walk or chew their food that get raped now and then? I personally can't see any physical temptation there, only a desire to take power over another human being. Which, incidentally, is what most religious leaders do...
[Looking at it in another light, if a man went out with a fancy suit and got mugged, would you say that the man was tempting his mugger?]
YES. That man was just asking to be mugged! The suit made him look rich, tempted the mugger into thinking he was wealthy and mugging him! [/fundie logic]
See, the more and more I think about it, Mrs. Kellie is full of shit. (Not that we hadn't already guessed at that.) The only Scripture I can think of that would back up her theory about women sinning by not dressing modestly (and I'm talking modest in the sense of not exposing a lot of skin - not modest in the sense of loading on the gold jewelry and designer clothes, which I'm pretty sure is what that verse in 1 Peter is about) is the one where Jesus says it's better for a man to be thrown into the sea with a millstone around his neck than to cause someone to sin.
The thing is, this verse makes just as much sense when applied to the hypothetical overdressed guy who got mugged as it does when applied to the hypothetical underdressed woman who got raped. This has nothing to do with being rich; it has to do with flaunting it and "tempting" the mugger. Even that, though, I would argue does not in any way mean the man deserved to get mugged, any more than a beautiful, well-proportioned woman who wears pants or (gasp) shows a little cleavage deserves to get savagely raped.
In short, I offer this comment up as further proof that Mrs. Kellie is a moron.
"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon" Matthew 6:24
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammon
I think this is a fairly succinct, easy-to-understand phrasing of the bible's veiw on wealth.
moral of the story: READ YOUR OWN BOOK, FUNDIES...
My mother has worn a bikini at the beach numerous times and my father has never raped her, nor has anyone else. As far as I can tell, beaches have not been popular rape spots. Trot back to your kitchen, you pathetic, Stockholm Syndrome wannabe.
These idiots should turn around and read their Bibles properly.
I seem to recall something about it being easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter Heaven.
Plus one of the main points of the book of Job is that when someone has suffered, you don't blame the victim and tell them it is their fault, thus victimising them further.
Blaming a woman for the actions of a man (and rape isn't about lust, it's about power and control) is just evil.
These idiots won't be happy until all women are dressed in burqas. They are as bad as the Taliban.
So, on wealth we have Matthew 6:24 and Matthew 19:24. On "it's her fault because she was dressing immodestly and he couldn't help himself" we have Matthew 18:9 ("If thine eye offends the...") along with several other nearby lines.
Clearly, this family's Bible is missing Matthew.
In fact, it´s the other way round. But, wait, you don´t seem to consider the NT the Bible except for St Paul´s and Timothy´s letters.
Didn't Jesus tell his followers to sell their possessions and give the money to the poor? If you follow what Jesus said, there will be no rich people. The guy who was mugged was tempting the mugger, you silly bint! The mugger lusted after the fancy suit.
If you're right about the dressing modestly, there'd be no rapes in India, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan, where women are draped from head to toe in fabrics, and nothing but rapes in nudist colonies. Strangely enough, it's the other way around; just the other day, two young women were gang-raped and hanged in a tree in India. Two of the rapists were police officers. Meanwhile, a nudist colony is one of the safest places on Earth. Very few rapes and almost no muggings.
Confused?
