I can't see a reason why it would be good to teach about Islam or Buddhism. Why learn the tenets of Islam or the teachings of Buddha? They're false religions, after all. Maybe historically it'd be fine, but there's no real reason to go into the religion itself, right?

Wrong. Teaching the history of a religion with no mention of the tenets of that religion would be almost entirely pointless. It would be like teaching about the oceans without mentioning salt or water.

You can't see why it's a good idea to teach other religions, because you're bigoted. Religion shouldn't be taught in a public school, but if you can wrap your head around the idea that a "true" religion doesn't really exist, then someone learning about Buddhism or Islam isn't a bad idea.

In other words, you need to go to a public school and see by yourself that those kids are taught those religions the way you desire them to be and that many children believe in those false religions. Moreover, that more than 30% of the voters can believe in them.

The Caliphs at one point controlled an area that stretched from Southern Spain all the way to India. They contributed huge amounts of knowledge to Western culture, including algebra, optics, metallurgy, and the precursor to modern chemistry. They preserved works of Greek philosophers while the rest of Europe were busy burning libraries. Until the 18th century they were a powerful force in world politics. I think to understand the things they did, it's important to know a bit about their beliefs (i.e. Why they did it)

WTF??? Buddhists don't give a shit about evolution or creation--the concepts have no bearing on the elimination of suffering. Since creation itself is irrelevant in the Buddhist view, a creator God is a moot point.

If, Constitution forbid, you ever take over this country's public schools and rewrite the curriculum to teach your lies about ID, abstinence, and the beliefs of our founding fathers, will you still favor vouchers and homeschooling, so that people who disagree with you can have an escape route? More soberly, the Buddhist establishment has done a moderate amount of persecuting when in power, and a king or so has waged war in what they at least called the name of the Buddha. It just follows a whole lot less naturally. Whole lot.
