One North Carolina resident is making his anti-marriage equality stance clear after posting a rather troubling video on YouTube that's been going viral in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) blogosphere.
The resident, who introduces himself as Alex, notes: "Right now, there's this amendment trying to be passed -- Amendment One -- that's going to state that marriage is going to be between one man and one woman, which is how it ought to be." Noting that he "was just going to have a little talk" about a "Vote Against Amendment One" sign displayed by a neighbor, Alex proceeds to fire two bullets into the sign with his shotgun.
"That's all, folks," he then notes.

Here's a good rule to follow: if you're going to vandalize a neighbor's property, don't film yourself doing so and post it on the internet.
But then, its pretty clear that Alex isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Well, I'm confident this guy is dangerous. If he's willing to overreact and shoot a sign, I'm sure he'd be willing to do the same to actual gay people. In my estimation, this guy is a sociopath.
The thing which I find horrific is that apparently this is accepted behavior among conservatives, since I don't see anywhere where this guy went to jail for illegally discharging a firearm. I'm sure if he'd been firing a shotgun at a pro-Christian sign or display, he'd already be in jail.
It's always interesting to see how people don't understand the freedom they enjoy.
On the one hand they think it's ok to quench differing opinions with violence and force.
On the other hand they forget that the very fact that they can own a gun, propose an amendment, post a video on YouTube, etc., etc. is based on the right of everybody to voice their opposition to someone else's opinion.
If somebody were to confiscate his guns, deny him any right to vote, arrest him for expressing his opinion, and whatever, he's go ballistic. But that's what he wants.
Dumb.
This is disgusting and does nothing to promote the pro-marriage movement in this country. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Alex was a plant being used to discredit family-oriented conservatives. Why is the video "going viral in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender blogosphere," hm? Sounds a little suspect to me.
In any case, if this is real, then it's deplorable. As Christians we are to practice peaceful resistance and walk in the paths of Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Ghandi, etc. Jesus said let your LIGHT shine before others and this is what we must do in the fight for our traditional values. We must show Americans that there are better altneratives to the homosexual lifestyle and that love and forgiveness are available, even to those struggling with sin. This post really makes me sad.

As much as I realise the stereotype of the USA (especially the southern Republican states) being full of bigoted rednecks with a death-grip on their bible and their guns is just a stereotype... there's things like this. I mean for fuck's sake, is anyone even INVESTIGATING how he nearly killed someone over holding a SIGN? Maybe the police should look into that? But then I remember the police in North Carolina are more concerned with arresting people for wanting to be married (seriously, that happened) than there being almost as many privately owned guns as there are people in their nation.

"it wouldn't surprise me if Alex was a plant being used to discredit family-oriented conservatives"
Why is that when a hateful bigot violently expresses their hateful bigotry in support of a hateful (and bigoted) position, those who support aforementioned position almost immediately suspect they're a "plant"? This is not anything new. Violence against LGBT individuals and their supporters is endemic and well documented throughout your nation.
Also, Gandi wasn't Christian, and he didn't exactly have much praise for them.
@His4Life
I believe Gandhi had something to say about Christians.
"I like this Christ. It's a shame you Christians are nothing like him."
As for all you Christians against gay-marriage, I suggest you first remove the log from your eye before you inspect the splinter in your brother's.
@ His4Life
What I find disgusting is your pretence of "love" and "fogiveness" in a post in which you all but accuse the LGBT community of planting the video, imply they're in opposition to marriage and family values, call them strugglers with sin who need forgiveness for the biology with which they were born, and then finish off by calling on others to oh-so-lovingly further marginalize gay people by attempting to "show Americans" that gay people are just making a choice to wallow in a sin that can be overcome.
The only thing you've shown Americans here is ignorance.
"Right now, there's this amendment trying to be passed ..."
Is this in English? The words seem to be, but the concept of an amendment trying to be passed is beyond my comprehension. Amendments simply do not try. Granted, supporters of an amendment will try to have it passed.
The shooting. Why does the gun form so strong a part of the American way of life? Its use in this case is undemocratic and downright menacing and intimidating - not to mention a violation of freedom of speech.
You know what? I am so fucking fed up of these asswipes being allowed to make DEATH THREATS without any reaction from the authorities. The Teatards do it to elected representatives, not squirrely metaphors or 'violent rhetoric' but literal "we need to kill ___", loud proud, on video, and in public. You want to talk about terrorism? THIS is terrorism.
@His4Life: It was pulled from youtube by a guy named "Chase Young" after he claimed that it was "copyrighted". Something tells me that he didn't know just how utterly stupid he was until he felt the sheer volume of backlash he got.
I am fairly certain it was a genuine example of a proper fuckwit who worships some weird twisted caricature of Jesus.
