[OP of the "In defense of Pol Pot" thread]
It seems like in the modern communist movement Pol Pot has become taboo, someone who must not be supported. However, I disagree. He took great efforts to rebuild the Cambodian nation from scratch under a socialist framework. The only reason he depopulated the cities is becauae Capitalism had so thoroughly corrupted Cambodia that it was necessary to reforge Cambodia from the ground up. Once a socialist foundation had been established, he would begin to remodernize the country but under a socialist, egalitarian manner.
Furthermore, the article below makes some excellent points about how Pol Pot's rule helped the millions of ordinary working Cambodians.

You can depopulate cities without walking people do death while doing it.
If you have serious problems with unemployment and homelessness, killing a few million people will "help the millions of ordinary working Cambodians" to get a job and a home. The ordinary Cambodians who survive, that is... It worked wonders in Nazi Germany too; remove all the Jews, Roma, Homosexuals and Communists you can find, and suddenly there is no shortage of work or housing any more. It's a miracle!
So what if 2,000,000 people die in the process eh? No doubt those deaths were necessary, in your warped mind, to rid of the "greater" evil that is capitalism. Also, how would you justify the absolutely insane reasoning for the Khmer Rouge's executions? For example, would you support the murder of those that wore glasses? Would that send alarm bells ringing, or would you convince yourself that they were enemies of the people and deserved death?
You're sick and I for one hope that you never hold a position of authority, no matter how grand.

... A communist Pol Pot apologist. Okay. So. Rebuilding a nation to free it from capitalism somehow needed to involve torture and killing 1.5 million people? And this made things better for the ordinary working Cambodian? Well, the ones who lived, maybe. Then, sure.
Pol Pot was just as much a socialist as Hitler a moderate conservative.
EDIT: To be fair, even Hitler was more of a socialist than Pol Pot.
This and the article linked to are so stupid that as a socialist (and technically a communist, though as an American I don't identify as one) I'd say they were written to discredit communism and make people laugh at modern-day communists. Forget Stalin or the Kim dynasty, Pol Pot is pretty much the NUMBER ONE way you don't do communism. You can easily make a positive case for Castro or Lenin or even fucking Mao, but for Pol Pot? Forget it, and that article does absolutely nothing to change that besides presenting an utterly whitewashed account of Pol Pot's rule with tons of blatant lies. Yes, there's probably things in the "official" Khmer Rouge story that aren't entirely true, but that does not change the simple fact that Pol Pot was pretty much the worst communist leader of all time, bar none.
The fact that this bastard WROTE this piece of excrement and is able to READ is an irrefutable proof he (I don't think the poster's a woman) is corrupted by the past era of feudalism and/or capitalism (in Cambodia?). Corruption such as this can be cured by lobotomy or beheading. Khmer Rouge usually went with the latter. Step forward, comrade, and willingly. The benefit of the people and the cause of socialism demand it!

Well, yeah you know... I would even prefer to say: "We are still waiting to see a good implementation of a communist state" rather than risk myself to call those "positive cases"
Is the Socialist Union of Earth survivalist or primitivist? As that would be the only way I could come up with where "Kill anyone with any education but me!" equals "(re)moderniz(ing)".
Anyways, if hell does exist, Pol Pot would be one of the few people to belong there, along with Stalin, Mao, Hitler, the Kim-Yong dynasty, and so on.
