7. No
8. I'll admit to feeling that way some days.
9. Bad wording. The life of people currently living is more important than potential lives.

20. It could be given the proper treatment.
21. Sounds like a personal problem
22. Nope
23. No opinion on that as I haven't read up on it enough
24. Anyone who thinks they can overthrow the government with what they have in their personal armories is welcome to try. They have tanks and helicopters, do you?
25. Nope
Republicans are in the pockets of the super rich and the big corporations. It's not government by the people for the people. Rather its government of the people for some of the people.
And I'm not so sure the Democrats are free of taint either. But at least they have not sold their souls to Theocracy.
Theocracy = a way to rule by convincing people that even the most stupid or outrageous system is God's will and must be obeyed. Amazing how many are taken in by this. If using God is not the ultimate hypocrisy and blasphemy, tell me what is!
"We must stop being the party of stupid..."
"The left wants[...]the Earth is flat[...]the IRS should violate our constitutional rights[...]Benghazi was handled well[...]the Second Amendment is outdated, and the first one has some problems too."
Could you at least stop being the party of improper semicolon use?
people of faith are ignorant and uneducated
Not generally, but I swear you fundies are doing your best to convince us all otherwise.
pornography is fine
Yes.
rich people are evil unless they are from Hollywood or are liberal Democrats
No, just the conservatards.
moral standards are passé
No, just your standards.
...and the First one has some problems too.
It's your side that is trying to force religion into our government. And I have a feeling that your side would just love to do away with the First Amendment all together.
As for the rest...

@Osiris
This is actually a comment from the Governor of Louisiana... which is so much worse than if it were a simple commenter.
@some others
Guys. The remarks about religious people being ignorant: not cool. I know plenty of people who adhere to some faith and other, and they're far from this. Please, don't give us atheists a bad name with that kind of statement.
"people of faith are ignorant and uneducated"
Considering what many people of faith say with complete seriousness...
"First one has some problems too.
"
You mean like how many Christians whine about the fact other belief systems are allowed here because the first amendment?

And this man is the governor of Louisiana. Appalling.
He seems to no longer care about the GOP being called the stupid party.
Bloody hell. I didn’t realise that he was an actual politician. He sounds more like one of his more ignorant constituents. Louisiana must be in a a bad way if they're reduced to electing idiots like that.
I tend to agree with the anonymous author of #1557329. There are lots of intelligent religious people; I know plenty of them personally. The problem is that in the American political climate, ignorance disguised as piety is enormously rewarding . So you have a minority of ignorant morons who use their religious beliefs as an excuse for wrecking the entire political system of what is supposedly the most powerful democracy on Earth.
There's plenty here to criticize, but leave intelligent religious Americans be.
the earth is flat
Says the guy whose political party follows a religion which believes that an ancient holy book is literal truth.
people of faith are ignorant and uneducated
Says the guy whose political party wants to teach ancient creation myths as fact in schools and believes that "God did it" is a valid answer to scientific questions.
Apparently this guy learned nothing from the Romney debacle.
If you wish to run for president then you have to realise that everything dumb you say will come back to haunt you.
They think that they can say stupid things to appeal to their pig ignorant base and then row back from it if they become the candidate. Well as Mr 47% proved. You can't.
"The government to explode; to pay everyone; to hire everyone;" Not really, it's more an idea of the people owning the government.
"they believe that money grows on trees;" I don't know about every other person on the left, but I know money is printed by central banks. But as my ideal society is not a monetary society, I don't really give a fuck.
"the earth is flat;" If you have to pull stuff out of your ass, at least wash it before so it doesn't stink that much.
"the industrial age, factory-style government is a cool new thing;" I have no idea what he means. Is he talking about Marx' theory that society could be run like a factory?
"debts don't have to be repaid;" Well, technically not every debt has to be repaid, that's what the bankrupcy process is all about. But ideally they should.
"people of faith are ignorant and uneducated;" Many, but not all. Most are slightly delusional, but almost everybody is delusional about somethig.
"unborn babies don't matter;" I very much think they do.
"pornography is fine;" Yep.
"traditional marriage is discriminatory;" Depends on what you are talking about. If you are talking about a man and woman getting married, no, that is discriminatory. If you are talking about not letting other people marry partners if the same sex or more that one person, yes, that is discriminatory.
"32 oz. sodas are evil;" No, and I believe Bloomberg went to far outlawing them. But I also think that farm subsidies in the US are grossly and disgustingly misplaced.
"red meat should be rationed;" No, not as a public meassure, but for you own health you should watch how much red meat you eat.
"rich people are evil unless they are from Hollywood or are liberal Democrats" I don't think that rich people are evil, but I think that there is a bad culture in America were rich people see themselves as better as poor people in an almost social darwinian fashion.
"the Israelis are unreasonable" No. The Israelis are very reasonable people - their government on the other hand is sometimes really just nuts.
"trans-fat must be stopped;" Well, they do cause heart diseases, so it would be good to limit them or at least label them properly.
"kids trapped in failing schools should be patient;" No. I think kids should take their fight for better schools to the street and make as much noise as they possibly can.
"moral standards are passé;" No. We just have new ones.
"government run health care is high quality;" Yeah well, it is. Ask Canada. The semi-private system in my country isn't too bad either, well I know it's much better and cheaper than the American system.
"the IRS should violate our constitutional rights;" Erm no I don't think that. But there is no constitutional right to say taxation is fascism and then not be investigated by the ageny that collects taxes. That's like arguing free speech keeps NAMBLA members from being investigated by Vice Departments, or running in Jihadist circles should keep you from being investigated by the NSA.
"reporters should be spied on" Generally no, but if spying on the reporter might keep people alive I do get the point. That said, the barriers until that happens should be very high.
"Benghazi was handled well" You know what? I don't know if it was handled well, I'm not a military man. Though what I do know is that under Bush 60 people died in embassy attacks, and Republicans didn't seem to give a fuck. Now 4 die, and it's a scandal.
"the Second Amendment is outdated; and the First one has some problems too." Actually I agree with Bill Maher when he said that the entire constitution needs a page one rewrite. The rights should be part of the main text, the Senate is bad joke, the mode of elections needs to be changed, the jobs of the President should be split in two, federal control over the states should be greater, a fourth branch of government should be established purely to manage elections - so no person elected can control elections and biannual referedums should be held to counter a tie in parliament - and actually that's just the beginning. Look, it's an over 200 year old constitution, you're not running Windows 3.0 on your computer anymore either.
@Distind: Edit function seems to be deep-fried again. I just get thrown back to the main page.
@mythbuster43
And this man is the governor of Louisiana. Appalling.
Appalling perhaps, but hardly surprising. Mississippi and Louisiana aren't America's hellhole cesspool for no reason.
If that what's they want to be like, let 'em rot. It's not like they have any influence, take away jobs, or really matter in any way.
#1557329:
Well, Anon, we are on the side of truth and logic, so what we do is by definition right and anyone who's not on our side is therefore wrong. So we can do and say whatever the hell we want.[/sarcasm]
Wow. My mom had said that Jindal should've ran for president. Now I'm glad he didn't. He's just as ill-informed and foolish as the rest of the far-right fools who think that liberals are the embodiment of evil.
I weep for Louisiana. I really do.
Confused?
