The Vatican's chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God.
The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, says that the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.

In an interview published Tuesday by Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, Funes says that such a notion "doesn't contradict our faith" because aliens would still be God's creatures.

wait...so if an intelligent (and they'd have to be much more intelligent than us anyway) group of aliens landed here these fundies would initially want to persecute them and deny the rights we allow for humans even though they're an intelligent sentient race? We could only hope that they wouldn't want to persecute us, because if they had the technology to find us and well, shit, we can't quite make it over to the next planet then we'd be fish in a barrel I'm sure. The only possible way it wouldn't work out like that is if somehow through bizarre circumstances they're a completely peaceful race that has never bothered to develop advanced weaponry -- a true sign of an ideal society.

Nutz´ comment remindes me of the TV series Alien nation.
In it a (250k large) group of intelligent (and human looking) Aliens was discovered in a spaceship in california and ask for political asylum within the USA because they were persecuted on their home planet.
Everything leads to a growing speciesism against these aliens (called Newcomers), despite them being rather intelligent and sucessfully trying to integrate themselves into the amrican society (well, in some parts even too successful as some of them even start criminal careers :D ).

I can well imagine Sing4Him being at the forefront of the movement to keep those aliens out of the american society :D
