[About people pointing out Josh Duggar's blatant hypocrisy]
I agree with all that you’ve said, StarFox. In addition, let me add that he confessed and was punished. He asked forgiveness of his victims, and it was given. What more do you want? Should his whole life be ruined, not truly because of this but because many of you don’t like his politics and so are enjoying seeing him suffer. If so, that makes you a hypocrite too.

Fuckabee, as governor of AR, did that with an inmate who was in jail for murder. He truly belied the man had repented & was born anew. He gave the guy a pardon or early release (forget which).
Point is, within a few months of being released, he had murdered again.
So yes, Josh needs to register as a sexual offender and let the consequences follow him for the rest of his days.

What pisses me off is the down playing of the molestation by the parents. calling it inappropriate touching and that the girls didn't even know it was inappropriate. It also pisses me off that he tried to get the parents to get him help but they refused, more then likely because, Jesus will take care of it all. It pisses me off that everyone is concerned about poor Josh Duggar and his public reputation but not enough people are concerned for his daughters.
What pisses me off is that sick cults like quiverfull treat child molestation just the same as masturbation. "We all suffer from sexual sin, in one way or the other". This family is truly sick and twisted and it has absolutely nothing to do with them being part of a Christian cult that is essentially waging a Christian holy war on America and attempting to breed out America's liberalism.
This guy molested his sisters and babysitter, and now he has children of his own !
Where is the concern for them? For any other children he may be exposed to?

...that's not how criminal law works.
the victim of the crime does not, for better and worse, get the last say in how the criminal should be treated. just because said victim gives the criminal their forgiveness does NOT automatically mean that the matter is closed and should be forgotten; the victim does not get to supersede the judge and jury.
conversely, just because the victim might sometimes want the criminal to be literally drawn and quartered then burned at the stake, doesn't mean the court is going to order that, either.

There is nothing we can do about something that happened over a decade ago. I feel he was under punished, given essentially less then a slap on the wrist. However it is pointless to punish him now.
All I can do is hope he doesn't molest another child.
How exactly was he punished? By sending him to a family friend to do construction work for a few months? According to his dad Jim Bob, he should have been put to death. Or maybe that only applies when Jim Bob is running for public office.
And yes, I don't like his politics. But being a confessed child molester as head of the FRC is far more hypocritical than anything I could dream of doing. I do admit that I enjoy seeing the Duggars suffer now, but only because we've been treated to their holier-than-thou self-righteousness for years while they were hiding this deep dark secret. They also successfully campaigned to repeal a law guaranteeing rights to transgendered people by scaring voters with the idea that men would be using the same restrooms their little girls would be using. The Duggars have made their bed and now they have to lay in it.
So if one of those gay pedophiles confessed and was punished, asked forgiveness of his victims, and it was given, would it be OK with you?
Confession, forgiveness, counseling (not punishment) .....didn't stop him from doing it again. And again and again, and again.
So, you've just been told that when he was 15, Barack Obama repeatedly cornered and molested your 5yo daughter, lied to police about it, and his mother covered it up long enough to keep him from going to jail. Now let's hear you give him the same defense.

I don't have a problem with treating a teenager with kid gloves regarding an issue like this. This does, however, provide evidence that belief in a supreme being and the Evangelical lifestyle is not a protective factor against such behavior.
The far right is constantly claiming that those of us who aren't "saved" have no reason to avoid behavior like this and that a supreme being is the only basis for morality. Yet non-believing families all over the world (and obviously many believing ones) don't have to put locks on their daughters' doors against their own brothers.

I don't enjoy seeing anyone suffer, especially the victims of child molestation . I blame the parents more than the molester in this situation, and I'd like to see CPS investigate the whole family. I have a feeling the Duggars are hiding more perversion.
I want to see Lord Janner face justice for the allegations over his heinous sex crimes. This is despite his allegiance to a British political party that I tend to support. You could say that I want to see him having his life ruined, but I find that crass, as I'd rather see the likely victims to face closure for their harrowing experience.
For Josh, I don't want to ruin his life because of his conservatism. It would have been preferable if, as the time, he faced justice as any other teen in his position would have done, so that the repercussions would have been fair and equal, and it would have given his victims true closure (I notice the Duggar apologists rarely extend their sympathies to them). This was taken from the victims in the ensuing cover-up to protect their own reputations. Like any offender, regardless of political persuasion, I'd want Duggar to face the same reparations as any other sex offender.
This case has generated an outcry against the Duggars, but that is linked to their hypocritical holier than thou stance that they and their supporters have given them. Now the jenga blocks are beginning to tumble and all you can do is scream.
Update: Parents are under investigation on refusal to let Children's Society interview one of theirs, refused under police backup too, not an option.

Yes, to be fair I never trust that sort anyway, not real people, an act all the way. Politicians that pretend their super good Christian are usually less than a decade from the true revelations. "they must be hiding something behind that veneer" is validated more often than not.
