The article's author cavalierly speaks about homosexual "rights". What, exactly, are those rights? The right to bugger adolescent boys? The right to force their perversions down the throats of an unwilling world? The right to bully, smear and pauperize anyone who opposes their obscene lifestyle? The right to enter Churches naked and shout filth and blasphemy while politicized police protect them?

Last year, this conservative group launched a campaign to initiate a nation-wide referendum about should the definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman be raised from Family Law into Constitution. Unfortunately, majority voted in favor of that on referendum, meaning that legalizing same-sex marriage now is going to be a real pain in the ass.

HOWEVER, during all of that stuff (campaign, referendum and then parliament doing its part), politicians were discussing about this law that would establish this civil union thing (NOT an actual marriage). It would be open to two people of same gender and they would have nearly the same benefits as a married couple, except that they won't be allowed to adopt and that it's "not marriage". Of course, the leadership of that previously mentioned conservative group was mighty pissed off about that. Their bitter tears of anger were truly sweet and tasty.

I myself am currently unaware of current status of that law.

How long do you think it'd take until the legalisation of same-sex marriage?
A LOT. Like I said, it's now written in Constitution that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Constitution is, of course, not easily changeable, which means we'll probably need to change a generation or two before any referendum sees any kind of result that's in favor of same-sex marriage.

Sorry , but the only "rights" these people should have is the right to try to extricate themselves from a lifestyle that will kill them both physically and spiritually, and will kill any nation that tolerates it.

HUMAN rights, stupid; the exact same rights that heterosexual white men take for granted. The right to life, to free speech, to not be unjustly fired, to marry the consenting adult love-of-their-life, to not be subjected to "corrective" rape, etc.

When bullying, smearing and pauperizing is happening, it's mostly the homosexual person at the receiving end, and a heterosexual as the perpetrator, asshole!

When you enter a church, you should show a modicum of respect to the culture that the church represents. If you're talking about Pussy Riot, they were fully clothed; they even had balaclavas covering their heads.

Strangely enough, homosexuals who live in tolerant societies are not killed physically and spiritually by their "lifestyle", and neither is the nation killed by that "lifestyle". It's almost as if when no-one cares about other people's sexual orientation, it's not a problem for either society or the individuals. The only nations this “lifestyle” seems to be killing, are the ones that DON’T tolerate human rights.

Perhaps you’re suffering from the fear that a gay man will treat you the way you usually treat women

Truthfully, I have no idea. There is no previous precedent I could base my judgement on, unlike in USA when you can use the situation in one federal state to guess the possible outcome in another. I also can't judge the power ratio between conservative and liberal tides (it's not very clear to me), not to mention that Croatian voters seem to be apathetic when it comes to voting, leading to, among other things, situations when the percentage of older people who voted is higher than percentage of younger people who did, and Croatia seems to suffer from same problem (if you can call it that) as other countries in this day and age do - the older a person is, the more probable it is his or her stances are going to be conservative, especially in matters like this one.

There might also be the problem of what the Constitutional Court said. Now, I don't know if this is/was Court's official stance or just the comment of one of its judges, but I do remember hearing once in the news, just a couple of days before the referendum took place (literally in the same week - voting here always takes place on Sundays and I heard that maybe... on Thursday?), something in line of "Constitutional Court cannot forbid the referendum taking place on grounds of it being unconstitutional because no one complained about the marriage definition being unconstitutional when it was just a part of Family Law."
