regardless of the MSM claims, most libs like Obama are die hard atheist. Obama worships his own brain, and that means he has a very weak god (little “g”).
Jimmy Carter is an atheist, and he teaches Sunday School. He no more believes the bible, than Obama does.
To be a true democrat, one has to deny the Bible. You cannot agree with abortion, welfare, gov run schools, gay marriage, gays in the military—.. and believe the Bible.

That sounds OK to me.
Oh, shut up, you idiotic fucktard.
Also, your god is a sadistic sociopath unworthy of attention, let alone worship.
Which part about selling your possessions, giving the money to the poor, and following Jesus, did you not understand? Or did you understand it just fine, but simply don't give a fuck? Every other example you cited, was not mentioned by your cult's alleged founder.

"As David st. Hubbins reminds us, it's a fine line between stupid and clever. The harder you try to be clever, the faster you will be when you reach that line and the less likely you are to notice when you cross it."

Unlike some most fundies, I actually read the Bible. I can attest with absolute certainty that Jesus never said a word about "abortion, welfare, gov run schools, gay marriage, gays in the military" or whatever else this nut is obsessing about.
"To be a true American, one has to deny the Bible. You cannot agree with liberty and justice for all
.. and believe the Bible."
Fixed that for you. You're welcome.
Atheism != non-Christian.
Also you are stupid, and that's not even ad Homenim, because you're stupid precisely because of your stupid argument.
"regardless of the MSM claims, most libs like Obama are die hard atheist."
But the MSM claims Obama is secretly a muslim communist.
That's it, I'm going to register as a democrat.
Jimmy Carter, an atheist, teaching Sunday School? Are you sure? Why would any atheist teach children religion?
I like Obama & I'm not an atheist.
Jimmy Carter is a Baptist, he believes in God & embodies the values of the REAL JESUS.
You, RANHERPADERP, are just.....
"LYIN' FER TH' LAAAARRRD!....."
This takes No True Scotsman to a whole new level.
And, if I am permitted to say so, it is also further evidence of the inevitable decline of the United States. When such a large number of people associate their religion with the most reactionary philosophy ever to come from the left side of the Atlantic, and they vote for people who believe the same, reform is impossible as compromise is in actual fact nothing more than Democratic capitulation to the Republican Party.
I highly doubt over half of the population in the US is atheist. It would probably be a much nicer place if that were true, but it's not.
Besides, I thought all you wingnuts had decided Obama was a closet Muslim? Or maybe he's an atheist Muslim now?
Besides, considering what Jesus said about rendering unto Ceasar and giving your money to the poor, he'd probably think wellfare was a great idea.
(a) Not believing in the Bible doesn't make you an atheist.
(b) Not believing in your particular interpretation of the Bible doesn't make you an atheist, either.
(c) The Bible says nothing about abortion or schools (or flat-screen TVs or antibiotics, either), and Jesus was all for welfare. It sounds like you're the one who doesn't believe in the Bible. You don't follow the Bible. You make up your own opinions, then cherry-pick the Bible until you convince yourself that God agrees with you.
The bible says nothing about welfare, abortion, gay marriage, gays in the military, or government run schools. However, Jesus did say not to pray in public, to love everyone, to give all your possessions to the poor, and that rich people would have a very difficult time getting into heaven. It looks like a lot of conservatives don't really believe the bible.
Yes, we're all impressed that you knew enough to use a lower-case "g." Patently you didn't know enough to use an upper-case "D" in Democrat... unless you are railing against the entire idea of democracy, that is.
I'm ever so impressed that you know who is and who isn't an atheist without speaking with them or, heaven forbid, taking their word on what they believe.
P.S. Please cite the Bible verses which speak against abortion, welfare, government run schools, or gays serving in the military. Please be specific.
This is simply not true. At least 40% of the country is Democrat or votes with Democrats often, similar to the number of Republicans. Only about 15% of the country is irreligious, and of that, even fewer are atheists, and even fewer than that are "strong", gnostic atheists. How the fuck do those numbers work out?
You seem to have a problem with correlation not equaling causation.
Let me demonstrate:
1. More realistic people deny the Bible.
2. More realistic people happen to be democratic.
But one doesn't have to deny the Bible to be Democrat nor be Democrat to deny the Bible.
Wait, wasn't Jesus the one who encouraged people to give to and help those less fortunate then them? Didn't he go around and heal the sick and disabled? Didn't he preach not to judge others unless you're prepared to be judged yourself?
Now I don't believe in the Bible myself, and honestly if Jesus was real, I think he was just a normal guy who wondered why we couldn't all get along. Based on his actions, I think he would have absolutely no problem with welfare, universal healthcare, and pretty much almost everything you declare "ungawdly".
You cannot agree with abortion, welfare, gov run schools, gay marriage, gays in the military
.. and believe the Bible.
Yes you can.
Jimmy Carter is an atheist, and he teaches Sunday School. He no more believes the bible, than Obama does.
It would be a far stretch for me to say I'm a Carter fan and I hate how he slobbers all over God and Jesus in every second sentence he utters, but one certainly can't deny his sincerity and the good and valuable work he does for the community.
Even as an atheist I have to say that picking on Carter's personal christian belief is a bit unfair.
@ J. James - WTF is a "strong", gnostic atheist?"
You don't have to gnow very much to understand that religion, spirituality, and the Bible are all gnonsense.
Jimmy Carter is an atheist, and he teaches Sunday School. He no more believes the bible, than Obama does.
Jimmy Carter is a Baptist. You have no real idea what an atheist is beyond the strawman caricature you saw in a Chick Tract.
Jimmy Carter was, and remains, a liberal evangelical. No, it is not an oxymoron. Whether you choose to believe it or not, they do exist.
http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/20/jimmy-carter-writes-about-his-faith/
From what I read, Jimmy Carter was the most sincerely religious president probably ever. Much more so than Reagan, who was undoubtedly playing up the extent of his religiosity in order to appeal to the Christian right, like the old actor that he was.
Also, while the Bible does forbid homosexuality, it says nothing about abortion, welfare, and government run schools. Welfare in particular I think would be absolutely consistent with Christian principles.
But maybe you're reading the new Republican edition of the Bible, with all the commie-sounding stuff cut out.
Jimmy Carter is an atheist? Really? You live in one warped reality my friend.
Though I like where your train of thought is going. People who disagree with those things should re-evaluate their beliefs and quit the church.
Jimmy Carter actually works to feed the hungry, house the homeless, and comfort the sick. You know, the kind of stuff Jesus did. He is a better Christian than you will ever be.
What fucking arrogance.
@Zimmer: and none of those things sit particularly well with the far right. American religious conservatism today is the unholy crossbreeding of Ayn Rand with apocalyptic Christianity and rightwing militant fascism. Witness the increasingly strident demands from people like Bryan Fischer to let the poor and uninsured sick suffer the consequences of their poverty by allowing them to suffer and die, just as nature intended.
American religious conservatism hasn't had much in common with the more humanistic teachings of Jesus for a very, very long time. RangerDerp here is a perfect example.
I don't see why not. The bible has no prohibition against abortion and even killing babies is acceptable behavior. I do believe that there are parts in the bible which could be interpreted (and probably should be) to be for gay marriage and that was a centurion. (That's a roman soldier, FYI.) Schools and welfare were not mentioned in the bible, but helping the poor was promoted by Jesus. Actually, I think being a Republican may be incompatible with the bible.
You don't have to "agree with" those things. You just have to believe it's not the government's place to tell people whether or not to agree with them. Don't you believe in small government? Don't you think a government based on enforcing Christian morality impedes upon individual moral liberty - the most intrusive government possible?
No, you don't think that. You don't think at all.
Confused?
