We might ask where all the humans are? If human beings have lived unencumbered for the last 100,000 years...where is the staggering population which should only allow for standing room only?

I'd start by looking at the spread of Buddhism and the life of Buddha. Buddhism has killed more innocent people than all of the world's other religions combined, including Islam. Buddhists don't kill with weapons; they kill with psychology. The ultimate Buddhist goal is total nihilism; non-being... the absolute void of "Nirvana." That is, they are seeking to actually "uncreate" the world that God made and return everything to the "darkness and void" (tohu and bohu) described in Genesis 1.

It's no coincidence that the Bible reports that early man had an extremely long lifespan (up to 900 years), and that this lifespan suddenly began to decrease. If you do a study on this, you will find that the sudden decrease in the average human lifespan occurred at the time when Buddha was spreading his message of non-existence. As people began to "uncreate" themselves, in accordance with Buddha's teachings, the human lifespan began to decrease.
