You are so naïve. The welfare of the children is irrelevant, as is that of the wife/mother. All that matters is the comfort and satisfaction of the God Incarnate, the Fundie Male.
While the enslavement of the wife grants the Fundie Male a free slave, the indoctrination of the children serves an entirely different purpose. By instilling them with their own perverted ideologies and beating out anything they disagree with, the objective being to make the child a vessel for the Fundie Male's desires. In so doing, the Fundie Male achieves some sort of immortality. Because let's face it, none of them have the balls to actually face death, promises of paradise notwithstanding.
An aside to Jar Jar Binks: actually, both genders have both estrogen *and* testosterone, just in differing amounts. A male with no estrogen at all would have health problems and probably sexual dysfunction, too.

Heh. Obviously Teh Lard approves of my childfree lifestyle, 'cos he gave me endometriosis which made me infertile, thereby sparing me the expense of a tubal ligation.
