The op-ed’s author wrote that “many federal agencies are now operating more effectively from the top down on a fraction of their workforce” and that “we do not want most employees to return, because we are working better without them.”
Roughly 800,000 federal employees are currently going without pay, and millions of Americans who rely on the agencies those employees usually run — everything from the Food and Drug Administration to the Department of the Interior to the Department of Homeland Security — are going without services, except for those provided by workers deemed essential to national security or public safety.
“Now that we are shut down, not only are we identifying and eliminating much of the sabotage and waste, but we are finally working on the president’s agenda,” the official wrote, adding in conclusion: “Wasteful government agencies are fighting for relevance but they will lose. Now is the time to deliver historic change by cutting them down forever.”

Trump: "Your job is going away and it's not coming back."
The unemployed and uneducated: "Yay Trump!"
Next month:
"Whaddyamean mean, there's a three month period before I can get an appointment with social security?"
"Why am I sitting next to a terrorist on a plane?"
"Why didn't the coast guard stop that ship before it got to port with a bomb?"
"Why are we still paying to keep all those people in federal prisons because there aren't enough parole officers to monitor them?"
"Why is my interstate highway crumbling and nobody is doing anything about it?"
"Why didn't they inspect and maintain that bridge before it fell?"
"Why..."
"Why..."
"Why..."
Their conclusion: "That federal agency isn't doing its job. Fire all of them!"
The party of "everything comes down to jobs, and you working poor should just get better jobs because assistance only breeds laziness" isn't too keen on doing their own jobs.
Also kind of counter-intuitive to claim the reason you're shutting down the whole of the country and crippling it's infrastructure is border security when if somebody came up in tanks instead of the caravan you're so afraid of the people who would stop that are now unpaid.
Speaking of: I just caught a few minutes of a Trump address promising an increase in funding to expand America's missile defenses. Nevermind all this current budget hullabaloo of course. Trump tried to justify it by saying everyone, America's enemies, everyone, just so many people are building missiles. Long range missiles. And America needs the biggest and best, just the greatest missiles you've ever seen... Except that most countries are in talks about scaling back their arsenals and those countries Trump is talking trash about for not trying to compensate for their tiny fingers with military spending. All of which are ostensibly American allies he seriously talked about abandoning. While the countries that ARE notably expanding their missile programs are North Korea which Trump claimed to have solved forever and Russia which is the direct result of Trump pulling out of a treaty and trying to spin that as a positive.

No we're not. If we were, you'd be a former government official.
How much was he paid for saying that? Or is he a trumpist?
The ones who check food safety are not working, as far as I understand it. Didn't the US have a problem with toxic romaine lettuce? Or is this seen as a public safety issue?
The most wasteful government agent right now is the President, I'd say.

Operating more effectively? Then why did the TSA allow a man to board a plane with a handgun?

They say that the incident wasn't caused by the shutdown, but do you think those agents working for free are working to the best of their capability? If I wasn't getting paid but still being forced to work, I'd likely have an "I don't give a shit" attitude. And how many border agents are looking the other way when they see someone sneaking across the border?
As far as the second part of this, do you really think "Yay! We're eliminating jobs!" is the right way to go? FFS I really can't wait for January 2021.
@Swede
The most wasteful government agent right now is the President, I'd say.
Seeing as how he flies to Florida every weekend, costing untold millions in logistics for the Secret Service, not to mention charging them for staying at his resort. Part of the money he's wasting goes right into his pockets.
We all know that piece was penned by Stephen "Skin Suit" Miller.
When the richie rich business criminals that own Pig Vomit & his orbiters in the Beltway are inconvenienced by this nightmare, they'll squeeze Bitch McJowell so hard his eyeballs will launch out of his sockets like champagne corks. Then & only then would this gridlock break. No one on the right side of aisle gives a shit about federal employees going broke & starving, but when the rich asswipes can't fly to Thailand to indulge in some underage ladyboy tail, they will scream bloody murder & demand McJowell's head on a stick. When Junkie the Hutt can't jet off to Domenica with some illegally obtained boner pills, he'll change his tune, assuming a massive coronary doesn't finish him off first. Or maybe Pig Vomit himself will be removed from the picture by choking on a cold soggy "hamberder".
I do find it amusing though, that legions of stormtrumpers are sobbing into what's left of their cheap beer supply about how they're suffering from his unfathomable incompetence, but somehow they always miss the undeniable fact that they are responsible. I suppose that's the price you pay when you have such limited cognitive capabilities.

@Swede
The toxic peanut butter was a much better example.
Sorry, I haven't heard about that one. Living in Sweden, I (thankfully) don't hear about everything that happens Over There.
The stupid shit I hear is quite enough, thank you very much.
About half those employee are physical services, paper work doesn't do that and "A Senior Trump Official" doesn't even do the paperwork for those positions.
If you or they knew one damn thing about how real work happens you wouldn't be so obvious. Huckabees even dumber kids?
Also the "coke button"
Who's making 2 thou a week doing that now, doing something now,. Another Huckabee?
This'll end up with another Republican "cost saving" initiative
Employing twice as many at three times the cost.
Check it out, they've been doing this for 50 years. Then when Democrats are back in power, they'll demand drastic cutbacks
Confused?
