"RPG" means Rocket-Propelled Grenade. Something dies when a RPG explodes. The "R-PG" influence of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince may "explode" some day during the moral development of children who watch it, killing some of their parent-taught and Bile-taught teachings and values. Especially in the area of the perception of and degree of embracement of witchcraft and sorcery by the child(ren) thus distancing themselves from God's Holy Word and inherently from God Himself. They may end up thinking just like the characters in the film: that magic is good if it used for good whether by a witch or an angel. Wrong!

R-PG is Tom Carder's own, made-up rating for movies that are morally offensive to him but got a PG from the (comparatively) normal people at the MPAA.
He's basically just invented a concept out of whole cloth and is now congratulating himself for it.
"thus distancing themselves from God's Holy Word "
Children need some distancing from your gods holy word:
In Samuel 15:2-3, the Lord orders Saul to kill all the Amalekite men, women and infants.
In Numbers 31, the Lord tells Moses to kill all the Midianites, sparing only the virgins.
In Deuteronomy 13:6-16, the Lord instructs Israel to kill anyone who worships a different god or who worships the Lord differently.
In Mark 7:9, Jesus is critical of the Jews for not killing their disobedient children as prescribed by Old Testament law.
If you follow your gods holy word you need to distance yourself from me to avoid being RPGed in self defense.
Or...letting kids read fiction and telling that it is, in fact, fiction can help them to distinguish between reality and fiction. It can also help to develop their imaginations, which in turn can strengthen their mental muscles. A little creativity goes a long way in this world.
Oh, that IS clever. RPG and R - PG. My, my, but you're the clever one. It's stupid and wrong, but you do get a pity point just for having the nerve to play.
RPG =
Role-Playing Game

And for you military people;
Rape Prevention Glasses
Eh? RPG means role playing game, which Harry Potter aint, despite the geek chic and the fantasy tropes! I know roleplaying games supposedly come from Satan, but so does dancing, rock music and watching footy on a Sunday so who cares?
Actually, my good sir, RPG does not in fact stand for "Rocket-Propelled Grenade."
The RPG weapons are of Russian design, and thus the the "RPG" stands for "ruchnoy protivotankoviy granatomyot" which translates to "hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher."
> Bile-taught <
*snicker* Hey, Tommy, ya forgot the 'b'
@ Mister Spak
In Numbers 31, the Lord tells Moses to kill all the Midianites, sparing only the virgins.
So, Moses, how do you tell the virgins from the others?
Moses: "Well, ya see, I take my big ol' "Virgin Detector" thingie right here, and I shove it up her little . . . Oopsy! Well, she's an ex-virgin now, too bad."
Umm funny because RPG as in the weapon doesn't even stand for Rocket Propelled Grenade. It's a Russian Weapon and actually stands for Ruchnoy Protivotankovyy Granatomyot. Russian for Hand-held Anti-tank Grenade launcher. So in English RPG should be HAG. *insert RPG to witches analogy here*
'Something dies when a RPG explodes"
Unless said RPG misses
aww, isn't that cute? someone's trying to be clever. who's the clever baby? you are, yes you are, a googoo, googoo, goo!
""RPG" means Rocket-Propelled Grenade. Something dies when a RPG explodes."
Ha, okay good, open with a joke. Thats a good tactic if you want to keep people reading.
"The "R-PG" influence of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince may "explode" some day during the moral development of children who watch it."
Awww, Now you explained the joke. never explain jokes, because then the joke dies. You ruined it.
"killing some of their parent-taught and Bile-taught teachings and values."
So what have we learnt? Always check over what you have written. Best typo ever.
"Especially in the area of the perception of and degree of embracement of witchcraft and sorcery by the child(ren) thus distancing themselves from God's Holy Word and inherently from God Himself."
For every hour you child tries (and fails) to cast magic spells is an hour they aren't having premarital sex, and other 'nasty' things you don't like. Frankly, magic is the least of your worries.
"They may end up thinking just like the characters in the film: that magic is good if it used for good whether by a witch or an angel. Wrong!"
Yes, wrong and irrelevant, since witches do not exist. I've always wondered about these kind of people, because I can watch Harry Potter and not feel like I should start practising to become a wizard. If your children do have those feelings, possibly accept that college graduates they ain't gonna be.
All in all, I thought it was the funniest review on his site.
Well,
others mentioned already that most people think of RPG as Roleplaying game ;)
And even if we think about it as the russian antitank weapon...there doesn´t have to die something when an RPG explodes.
Maybe people are just practicing in a military shooting range, or they are using it for blowing up inanimate objects ;)
As for Bi(b)le taught morals...considering that thebible contains lots of things that are of morally dubious value for modern people, I think it isn´t the worst thing if some bi(b)le taught teachings get killed.
I think of things like the numerous atrocities commited in the name of the Lord within the bible (genocides and taking sex slaves for example), the status of a woman (as property, first of her father and then of her husband, who might have to marry her rapist if she was raped before getting married), the order to kill everyone who doesn´t believe in YHWH and so on.
> "RPG" means Rocket-Propelled Grenade. Something dies when a RPG explodes. The "R-PG" influence of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince may "explode" some day
It's been over a decade since I was in the army, and my only experience with RPGs was with a local variant of M72 LAW... but I had this distinct memory that there was some sort of a trigger thingy that you had to squeeze in order to make the thing to kill tanks and people.
In short, they just didn't "explode some day".
You know, armies around the world tend to like things that explode on predictable basis. I imagine the guys at the armoury would have been tad bit more nervous if those things would spontaneously "explode some day".
@ Antichrist
A bow is the front of a boat, Charlie Daniels claims to play a fiddle with a "bow". How can Charlie Daniels play a fiddle with the front of a boat, therefore he is a liar and damned for hell.
Not to be pedantic, but as a Sailor, I must point out to you that the front of the boat is the bow, not the bow. A bow is a a type of knot, distinguished by having two loops on either end of the knot itself.
Granted, Charlie Daniels would still have difficulty using this to play the fiddle, so your point is still valid.
"They may end up thinking just like the characters in the film: that magic is good if it used for good whether by a witch or an angel. Wrong!"
Yeah, magic is evil, no matter who does it. Even if it includes turning water into wine, raising a friend from the dead, or walking on water.
Re: IanC's post
I suspect that Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince has a PG-13 rating in the U.S, (roughly equivalent to the 12 rating in the U.K) , & that Tom has deleted the -13 suffix in his rant, possibly for mischief's sake...
Mr. Carder thinks everyone but him has no more brains than it takes to keep their unconcious biological processes functioning, because everyone but him apparently cannot tell the difference between fantasy and reality. If I met him, I would be struggling not to point out that his precious Bible is ninety-nine percent fantasy fiction, too.
RPG = role playing game, unless your playing a FPS like MW2, in which case RPG is something to shoot those fucking helicopters down with. Now while I can see a Harry Potter RPG being made (probably poorly) I am not aware of why anyone would even try to make a connection between things you shoot down tanks with and the fictional world or harry Potter.
Hey, the book came before the movie. And the movie doesn't even contain half the book.
Plus, I'm forty years old, and I have both read and watched. I have even heard it read, by the excellent Mr Stephen Fry. What about my "moral developement"?
I bet 90 percent of the people reading and watching get that the magic is just a metaphor.
Sectum Sempra!
Last year, I wrote a 40-page research paper on Harry Potter and morality, and I can assure you, I would not have had nearly as much usable material at my disposal had I tried to use the Bible.
or .Rated .Parental .Guidance? it can also mean Role Playing Game, or any number of other things in society. not sure about your grenade there tommyboy but even if rpg was a shorter version of that, what the fuck does it have to do with rateing movies??? ...(reads the rest) blahblahblahharrypottersthedebilblahblahblah... meh, same old drivel... wait a damn minute Bile taught teachings? did he mean to type bible? XD lol he should get an honesty award no?
Wait, I thought RPG stood for Role Playing Game. I'm pretty sure that you made up a MPAA-looking rating, made a backronym, and used it as a metaphor at random, then proceeded to smash Harry Potter.
Harry Potter iz ov da debbil!
Or it's just some popular fantasy. Prove it isn't. I don't suppose you have any EVIDENCE of "what might happen some day", do you?
As you believe without evidence that your "holy bile" is inerrant and true, I can understand how you'd have trouble telling fantasy from reality...
Confused?
