I'm atheist myself but I don't know if this is a good or bad thing for America.

Why would declining #'s of Xstains = America becoming an Islamic nation? Why not we stay a secular nation, free of any religious domination?

... ... as an atheist, you don't know if people embracing reality and giving up fairy tales as a source of moral, legal and intellectual inspiration is a good thing? Why do I have trouble believing that you are what you say you are? That's like saying "as a trained medical professional, I don't know if people giving up on homeopathy is a good thing or a bad thing" .

No, but Christians want America to be a Christian Nation with Old Testament laws. Same idea, different ideology.

But then muslims would be persecuted by the 17% atheists, just like they are persecuting christians now.
I've encountered fundies before who seem to think there are only three options: their theocracy, Muslim theocracy, and Stalinist communism. They really have no idea just how well off the countries of western Europe are.
What makes you think that fewer Christians automatically means more Muslims?
And why the hell do all these Shariaphobes refuse to understand the first fucking amendment? I mean, it's like they think they have the right & power to pass all sorts of pro-Christian laws, and if they're not doing it then the Muslims will do it.

Answering that question depends on if you approve of fundie Christains in the US who say they approve of what ISIS is doing, certainly to homosexuals? Oh, and newsflash: there is already a Sharia court in Irving, Texas.
So many fundie Christains 'Support Israel'. Which has had state-created, state-funded Sharia courts in that Jewish state since it was founded.
No Sharia here in the UK. Muslims have existed in the US since the mid-19th Century. A little something called the Treaty of Tripoli. There are almost as many Muslim citizens/immigrants in the US as there in Europe, including the UK.
I'd say that as s/he is an atheist, the answer is "No".
We don't like America to be a Christian State with Biblical law, either.
