Stage play The Vagina Monologues has been renamed at a theatre in Florida after a complaint about the title.
It will be known as The Hoohaa Monologues - a child slang word for the female organ - after a woman in Atlantic Beach complained.

I. Don't. Believe it. Surely somebody has hacked into the BBC website. Surely. Dear God, no, it's real. In that case: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah *wipes eyes* Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.
That just made my day.
I find this extra-funny because where I come from, 'hoo-haa' has absolutely nothing to do with the vagina; it is synonymous with 'fuss' or 'commotion', e.g. "what's all this hoo-haa about?" (Though personally, I've always said 'hoopla'.) This just adds an extra dimension to the humour for me. I just don't get all this hoo-haa about a play with 'vagina' in its title.
Also, I remember reading one of the earliest reports of this stated that the complaint came from a woman because she felt it inappropriate that her niece saw the theatre's marquee with the play's title displayed on it. My instant reaction: "what the fuck do you think your NIECE has down there?!" I just don't get why some people feel children should be shielded from a simple word. If they ask what it is - and I very much doubt most children are paying much attention to theatre marquees - just explain that it's part of a girl's body. NOT HARD! No need to even address that most Satanic of topics, sex.
<< I'd comment, but it's almost time for the Penis Van Lesbian Show. >>
Rimshot for MrBadAxe! That's great!
I forget the schedule, though; does "Leave it to Vagina" come on before or after?

(P.S.: For those of you who may be unfamiliar with 1960s American sitcoms, these would be variations on the names "Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Leave it to Beaver.")

Well, in the venue owner's defense, in an interview I read he basically implied that the owners chose "hoohaa" specifically to poke the critics in the eye by showing how childish it is. They tossed around several other ideas that they felt would be too offensive, and settled on this
The owners of the venue just didn't want to put up with the protests that were coming their way and figured this was a fairly humorous way of pointing out the stupdity of it. I believe they have since decided to call it The V Monologues now, iirc
Confused?
