How can traits be passed? Hebrews have circumcised their children for thousands of years and you don't see one being born circumcised do ya?

And once more, a christian disproves Lamarckian evolution.
Congratulations, now try Darwinian evolution
Since circumcision is a merely religious ritual, it is not necessary for survival. Consequently, there is no natural selection. Ancient Picts used to paint themselves blue, for merely religious reasons, yet none developed blue skin for the same reason.
Oh why am I bothering......
This is an elegantly minimalist refutation of the Lamarckian theory. Well done, griff.
BTW, this argument carried the day, a long time ago.
Hey, yeah, and what about all the Mexicans with mustaches, and Italian women - yet not the bambinos, hah! And and and sailors. With all they tattoos, and making babies all over the world but none with tats, not even a simple little Popeye anchor. But you are correct about the Hebrew babies, and I assume the Shebrews as well; I have not seen it happen.
Bahahaha. Old news, sport.
@ Previous commenters: Lamarckism might not be such bull after all. Read a bit about epigenetics.
Reason for circumsation was sand under your foreskin.
Now we have showers.
So science made evolution futile in this case.
Same text with fundie glasses on.
Reason for circumsation was sand under your foreskin.
Now we have showers.
So EVIL made NONSENSE futile in this case.
Yeah actually, this refutes beneficial mutations as well...
Fudies have been stupid for thousands of years and there still hasn't been a mutation to make them a 'smart' gene...
Most Middle East cultures circumcise thier male children, regardless of religion.
Usually done on the 8th day with Judaism, and at 13 years with other cultures.
Reason is for HEALTH. The level of hemophilia in those cultures is FLAT ZERO.
Well if we could figure out what genes cause the formation of the foreskin, I'm sure we, in fact, would.
However, until then, evolution has apparently not realized how useless it is, and so it's still our problem to fuck around with it.
EPIC PHAYLE! Epic, epic, epic fail. Public education has failed you poor fellow. Please, please learn the difference between genetic characteristics and physical ones. Oh what a sad day this is for humanity.
Grif, let's do an experiment following your line of "logic"
Say we cut off one of your arms.
You then have a child.
Your child will most likely have two arms.
Does everyone else follow?
Alright. The blueprints (DNA) are in place. Removing a peice of the original (your arm) will not reflect on the product (your child). In most cases, we are genetically predisposed to have two legs and two arms... each.
I hope this clears up even the tiniest bit of confusion for you.
>>Hakar
Now what the hebrews could have done was only allowing the half of the male population with the shortest foreskins to breed every generation. <<
This would have been an effective way to distinguish themselves from their neighbors ...
A question:
How long will we have to keep dealing with Lamarckian nonsense?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
