Observation and correct mathematics have proven geocentricity - that the earth is the center of the universe, with the sun revolving around the earth once each day.

That is what most people thought before Copernicus, Galileo, and others said otherwise in the Middle Ages.

But people before that were uneducated and ignorant, weren’t they?

Not really. They did not have the telescopes of recent centuries, but they knew how to observe and to think. And many of them had the Bible, which clearly stated over and over again that the sun rises and sets.

Yes, it is easy to say that “rise and set” are just figures of speech – or based on the perspective of someone on earth – not scientific statements. Many Christians fully accept that interpretation – since it MUST be true, given that we "know" the earth goes around the sun.

And that is at first glance understandable. But it is not “scientific”, since, as this site shows, both observation and mathematics prove that he sun goes around the earth and the earth does not rotate about its axis.

Another thing you should know is that the theory that the earth goes around the sun (called “heliocentricity”), though taught daily, has many problems and inconsistencies even beyond the fact that proofs shown at this site mean it just cannot be true.
