*To the tune of Richie Valens' Donna*
Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
There was a girl
Donna was her name
She's a Frummie
So ignorant & deranged
Does it matter, little girl
How Jesus said it!
Sell it away!
And give the poor the pay!
NOTE: Luke's Gospel is my favorite of the Four Gospels. I love it for it's literary and spiritual value. It pretty much includes everything from all the Gospels and it's so beautifully and touchingly written. It also fleshes out and humanizes side characters like Mary & Joseph and puts much emphasis on the Nativity story and John The Baptists' origins. It also presents Jesus as both a human and Divine figure and emphasizes his humanitarian side.
Matthew shoehorn's Hebrew prophecy where there is none. The writer is really reaching with those suppose "fulfilled prophecies".
Mark may be the oldest but it's kind of brief and ends abruptly.
Luke, on the other hand is very well-rounded and beautiful. It's the only Gospel that really moves me. This is my favorite, ever!
John is also awesome as an esoteric, mystical counterpart to the exoteric Luke.
That said, I can understand Insult to Rocks' point. Even I think "ALL" is a bit over the top. That said. I can understand the basic gist of Jesus' message and don't care about semantics. That's why it's important to combine faith & reason. I doubt Jesus would want people to starve. I just go with the general idea of "Don't be a greedy jerk. Don't worry about wealth and status. Live simply. Help those less-fortunate. Love one another. Promote peace. Be empathetic. Be a good egg".
