So letting voters vote on an issue, specifically the issue of a policy where politicians essentially have the power to pick their own voters and render nearly meaningless the purpose of voting overall, is bullying now? The very basis of democracy and the surest test of people's confidence in its integrity?
For people who love to use the phrase "rule of law" you sure don't give much of a damn about the actual letter of the law let alone permit the spirit get in the way of things. Or is "rule of law" just a way to dog whistle "social order and limitation of lesser status citizens?"

The practice of gerrymandering is entirely about limiting the power of the people and manipulating the representative power of the vote. In practice this tends to have a very strong undercurrent of racial bias and is only underlined further by the casual disenfranchisement of voters, deliberate hurdles to exercise their rights, and very pointed smearing of citizens as "scum" questioning why they have the right to vote in the first place... Never you mind of course that being American citizens gives them the Constitutional right and duty to do so. In the event of an unexpected candidate winning the establishment (even on the ostensibly more progressive Democratic side) often makes a point of dismissing it as "demographics" pumping that racial rhetoric like it's natural to think of your own countrymen as aliens and adversaries.
